I am a road biker from years back but now, due to a severe injury, I am riding recumbent bicycles and never had so much fun on two wheels. I prefer very long distance multi day rides where I will average between 100-150 km's a day over three or more weeks. The bike I have built would handle a heavy payload, absorb shock normally handled through body positioning on an upright bike, allow for comfortable positioning of my body while allowing for continuous, heads up viewing with minimal strain on neck, shoulders and wrists. The underseat stearing allows for natural body positioning with bottom bracket about the same as seat level. Disk brakes for long, loaded downhill braking, especially on hot days. The bike could be built slightly lighter but I want a good combination of rugged materials and geometry along with weight considerations. The bike will be loaded with gear most of the time so weight issues are not as important as with a feather weight racer. BACK to the Dream Bikes Section
