Brad Thompson from Portsmouth, VA writes:

I am in the process of building this bike! My dream is coming true! After seeing a guy's bike in my riding club, I developed a serious case of bike envy. He had taken an old (1980s) steel frame and lightened it up by adding a bunch of light-weight carbon components. I decided I wanted something like that for my next bike. My LBS owner also happens to build frames, so I contracted him to custom build me an old-fashioned steel frame. I decided I wanted to put high-end racing quality components on the bike, so I decided to go with the new Campagnolo 2009 11sp Record gruppo and Easton EC90 series seatpost, forks, handlebars, and stem. In addition, I was looking for a more comfortable ride, so on the recomendation of a buddy, I chose the Selle SMP saddle. I decided to go with the 60th Anniv. edition because it was available in white. I chose the Mavic R-SYS clinchers because of their light weight, and because I got a really good deal. Total cost of this bike will be about $6200.
