Price Paid:  $79.00 at The Bike Gallery

Favorite Ride:
Go fast, turn left.

Bike Setup:
Pinarello Pista
86 chain inches

Summary:
Tire punctured in first 30 miles.

The Bike Gallery ripped me off.

I realy wanted to like this tire. It mounted easily and the workmanship looked top notch. It was perfectly round and needed no adjusting before inflating to maximum pressure to let the glue set. It rode great, sprinting I could tell it was lighter than the crappy training tubulars I normaly roll around on.

When I realized that it was losing air, my heart sank. After reading all the glowing reviews here about "glass" and "roofing nails" and "riding the same one since 1991 on the rear" I thought I had found the perfect tire. Alas, this is a tire I would race on but never ride on the road again.

After the horrific gouging that The Bike Gallery gave me on this tire, and this tire flatting in less than 30 miles I have soured on this tire.

I hear good things about the Continental Podium's.

Strengths:
Fast, feels great, hold lots of pressure.

Weaknesses:
Very expensive.
Punctures easily.
Loses air overnight, lots of it.

Similar Products Used:
Clement tubulars.

Price Paid:  $45.00 at excelsports.com

Favorite Ride:
Climbs

Bike Setup:
C'Dale CAAD5, Full DA, Zipp 303s

Vittoria Valve extenders work great for me.

Summary:
Very comfortable tire. Great mix of low, rolling resistance, comfort, weight, and wear resistance. Seem easier to stretch and mount on tire. Immediate, noticeable difference from clinchers and even Conti Sprinter tubulars.

This is the type of tire that gives tubulars their good reputation.

Decent prices can be found if your willing to shop overseas.

Strengths:
Very supple ride. Clearly superior to clinchers.

Weaknesses:
Latex tube leaks air. Have to pump up tire before EVERY ride. Easily loose 40 PSI overnight.

Conti Sprinters

blah...blah...

Summary:
great tires, I'm only writingthis review to give the rest of you a pricing tip!!!
I found these tires for dirt cheap in England at sdeals.com. Even with shipping and money conversion, the price is still $20 bucks cheaper than the states. A second English website is deesidecycles.com, still cheap.

Strengths:
buy overseas and save your money

Weaknesses:
see above. American prices suck!!!!!!

Price Paid:  $35.00

Favorite Ride:
Anything up a hill.

Bike Setup:
Racing wheels: Ksyriums
Training Wheels: Omega Strada rims laced to 105 hubs
Glue: Mastik, and lot

Summary:
Sweet sweet riding tubular that wears out just a little faster than I'd like.

Strengths:
Feels like you're riding a rail; more grip than any other tire I've ever used. Makes corners a little less hairy when you have supreme confidence in your tire. Low rolling resistance, great road feel, super performing tire.

Weaknesses:
Price; even mail order, they're $40 a poop by the time they get to your door. Also durability; they don't last quite as long as they could. At 280g a piece, they're just a touch on the heavy side. I'm nitpicking, though; these are great tires.

Similar Products Used:
Conti Sprinters, Gommitalias, Vittoria Rallys, and a set of Conti GP3000s before I switched to tubulars.

Price Paid:  $55.00 at B&B/Kirks Muncie,

Favorite Ride:
R.A.I.N.

Bike Setup:
Cannondale Team Bike - total record. Reflex/Revolutions, Vector Pros, Zipp 303's.

Summary:
I use these to train and race on. They are absolutely the best tubbies out there. They have an ok life expectancy. I put about 6-7 k per year and have run through about three of these. One of them was a piece of cooper on a fairly new one.

Strengths:
This tire rolls super smooth. It takes the harsh ride out of your bike.

Weaknesses:
Small complaint: I always have to use valve extenders. I don't think Vittoria makes long valves. The extenders always leak.

Similar Products Used:
Conti's, Clement, Hutchisions
