Bike Setup: Giant TCR 0 with Campy Record
Easton Orions
Summary: With over 4000k on my Krylons, these tires have served me well. I have ridden them on gravel and dirt roads with no problems, unlike my Pro Race that have thin sidewalls which are prone to cuts. Punctures are few and far between. I have yet to get a cut that has gone thru the plies.
I live in Germany were wet weather riding is common. The tires grip well when wet, but don’t shed the water. I have never felt the tire lose its grip when wet unless I was really pushing. I run my tires at 110 psi, my weight is 204, anything lower and the ride is better, but I don’t get the feedback I like.
I had to cut my season short due to a knee injury so I kept the tires on for this season. So far they are still holding up. There is some delimitation of the sidewall from the bead but nothing to worry about. My Continentals started to pull away and before a ride I have to cut the strings hanging off the sidewalls. The tires are approaching two years and there is no dry rot or checking unlike my Pro Race IIs.
Strengths: Price, durability, light weight and color strip
Weaknesses: No complaints.

Bike Setup: Argon18 Platinum/DuraAce/Neuvation wheels
Summary: Love these tires. Often when you have a nice set of race wheels, you end up putting a tire on them that flats when you least want it to happen - like within 5 miles of the race finish!
These tires are super durable but also fast rolling. Sure you can get flats in them; what tire doesn't? But I have raced them in rain, on gravel roads and even dirt (Battenkill, NY) with zip problems.
They may be billed as "training tires" but I they are great for road racing. I never think about my tires having problems when I run these.
I paid $25 each on Ebay. Put a nice tube inside and they feel like sewups, without the hassles.
Strengths: Flat resistant, low friction, super smooth ride
Weaknesses: None

Summary: I've called everywhere to try to find these tires in 700x25 with no luck. One distributor said that Michelin is moving their manufacturing plant to the Far East and everyone has these tires on backorder without any idea when the supply will be re-established.
Bike Setup: Trek Madone 5.2, dura ace, bontrager race lite wheels
Summary: I started out with the pro race tires last year and I was very disapointed. After only 200 miles and one criterium I had slices all over my rear tire. I thought it might be a flook and bought another rear tire. After only one criterium I had cuts all over the tire. I called a local bike dealer and asked what tire would be the best for a training tire that I could just leave on for racing. He recomended the Krylion Carbons. I now have had a krylion on my rear wheel since last year, over 2000 miles, and 4 races under this same rear tire. I heard that these are not a racing tire. I beg to differ. These tires handle great in the corners and I'm very confident racing with them. I've been riding for 5 years now and I've tried numerous tires. These by far are the best training/racing tires I've ever owned. If you want a tire that you can rack up the traing miles, and leave on for race day, these are the tires. Trust me!!
Strengths: Price, and the mileage you get out of one tire.
Weaknesses: None so far

Bike Setup: Cervelo Team Soloist
Fiziik Arione Ti
Shimano 550
Time RSX carbons
Summary: I've tried numerous training tyres and all have been prone to puncturing(vittoria action HSD, continental ultragatorskin etc)I'am only 62kg so there is no excuse. The gatorskins blew the sidewall after only about 2 months and were ridiculously hard to change, the vittoria's had poor ride quality and were serial puncturers(record of 6 in 4 days!). Finally I went with the Michelins and couldn't be more impressed. No punctures to date, and not so much as a scratch which is amazing considering I ride on gravel ridden roads in the Gold Coast hinterland. it's wonderful not having to worry about punctures and can actually enjoy your rides. The ride quality is excellent (although I did purchase 25's).
Easily the greatest purchase I've made to date. If you're thinking about buying the Krylions don't...Just buy them. The cornering in all conditions, ride quality, price and most importantly puncture resistance makes this the holy grail of a training tyre.
Strengths: Puncture resistance, ride quality, Rolling resistance
Weaknesses: Slightly sluggish but it is a training tyre.
