Description The Volant replaces the venerable SL28. We completely redesigned this wheelset making it lighter, stronger and we increased the spoke count. The VOLANT was designed to be the perfect combination of pe...
Summary: Purchased Volant's in Sept/08 after seeing the create reviews for these wheels. Since riding approx. 4000 miles on these wheels I have not had to true them up once. I'm a 196 lb rider and still can't believe no true-ups yet. Riding here in CT on all the rough roads has been a real test and they have performed perfectly. Campy compatible rear hub worked perfectly with my campy chorus drive train. The noise from the rear hub pawls are a bit louder than my previous Open Pros but no biggy. As with many of the other reviewers here, dealing with the owner Sean was great both by email and over the phone.
Strengths: Strong, solid, light, and very durable wheels for everyday riding. Great customer service.
Weaknesses: None

Bike Setup: Bianch 928 carbon lugged complete Dura-Ace love this bike :)
Summary: I put about 1000 to 1500 since I've had these for the last 6 months and all I can say is these wheels rock. These wheels seem very stiff and don't flex but I only weigh about 165 lbs. Very durable haven't had to true at all and still staight as an arrow.
Strengths: Hard to beat for the price, not to heavy and really durable. Also are good for bigger heavier riders up to 240 lbs. Also fairly aero with 27mm rim and bladed spokes. Looks really cool with all black and only white decals (you know how ugly some decals look).
Weaknesses: At this price can't really think of any.

Summary: I was looking for something different and rare (for Europe’s scene) and finally ended up with RolWheels - largely thanks to Sean. That’s the best service I’ve ever had – thanks mate. Sean went through a rock to get the wheels to a small European country. And the wheels – super value for money! First I planned to use them as training wheels, but ended up racing on them also. They have proven to be great for road races, time trials and crits. Also I converted them to road tubeless – easy and recommendable. I’ve done on them over 2000 miles and no problems. Wheels are in perfect shape.
A nice bonus is to see some friends on fancy Mavics, Campas or some carbon rings looking amazed when I’m rolling past them :).
Strengths: Stiff, pretty light, aero, durable, great value, great customer service, nice looks.
Weaknesses: Zero

Bike Setup: Merckx Ti and Colnago Steel, Ultegra all
Summary: Looked for a light wheelset that was stiff and strong. (of course reasonablly priced) First ride on Rol Volants was a flat and owner Sean reassured that if I wasn't satisfied he would replace. Bought another set for cyclocross bike and rotation on other bikes. If truing needed, very easy to maintain. I have 1500 miles on both sets and they take a beating.
Strengths: Light stiff and forgiving.
Weaknesses: None yet

Bike Setup: Trek Madone 5.2, Shimano Dura-Ace components, Oval Concepts stem and seatpost, ROL Volant wheelset
Summary: I got to a set of Rol Volant wheels through a naming competition. Sean was looking for a name for his wheelset and I submitted a list of names which included Volant. So, that's how I got to a set of these and a bunch of other nice freebies. I've put these wheels on my Trek Madone commuter and ride them on my daily commute to work and now have ridden them long enough to add a review. I like those wheels not just because I got them for free and carry a name I suggested, but because they're a good looking, reliable and solid wheelset that carry me to work every day.
Strengths: Awesome wheels at a very good price. Very good quality. Super rims, extremely well machined hubs. Solid and reliable. Great value throughout.
Weaknesses: None so far.
