at La Bicicletta Favorite Ride: Time Ulteam VXRS with SRM powermeter Summary: This is a great product: surprisingly simple, fluid and smooth. It feels natural because it replicates riding on level road conditions. The progressive floating action of the rail return mechanism absorbs all sudden and intense power changes and the bumper system keeps me on track. The magnetic resistance feature essentially rounds out the product offering because you dial it in before you get on the bike, and you can pre-determine the gear range for your particular work-out.
So if I want to go long and light, I'll set the resistance to 1/4 stop. After a warm-up, I'll spin comfortably in middle gear at 90-105 rpm, 200-250W on the SRM and I can jump up out of the saddle and sprint to 500W every now and then, to stretch out a bit. Or I can set the magnet to the 3/4 stop, warm up in low gear, and then switch to a big gear and grind out 50-80 rpm, 280-350W to simulate a long climb. Again, you can get right out of the saddle and swing the bike from side to side.
No matter what workout you do, because you are on rollers, you have to pay attention and this develops another great skill - being able to track in a really straight line. I really notice the difference when ride on the road - I am much less twitchy than before and can hold the wheel in front of me with greater concentration.
Strengths: Among the top and most versatile pieces of training equipment I use. Very, very pro and it will make you a better rider. Quiet, hard wearing, excellent machining and assembly, simple to clean and maintain. Excellent value. Weaknesses: The weaknesses are more mine than the device. You have to pay attention! Keep at least one solid object (workbench, door frame) close at hand because you will inevitably fall over at some point. Similar Products Used: Kurt Kinetic Road Machine Trainer. I had this first & am still very pleased with it. I switch between devices, depending on the type of workout I want.

at 1upusa.com's ebay st Bike Setup: Cervelo P3 Summary: Rollers came packaged well. Unpacking and adjusting for my bike was a breeze. Rollers are light but very sturdy. They seem very well made. I was up and riding on them quickly and easily. I was able to ride while in my aero bars on my first ride. I waited until my second time out to stand and sprint. It was so easy and natural, I know that I could have stood on my first time out. This is a great training tool that I will be able to use for years to come. Just like everything of superior quality, it costs a bit more, but it is worth it. Would buy it again in a second. Strengths: Easy to use. Road feel. Well made. Weaknesses: Storage. Since it does not fold up, was difficult to find a place to store it while not using. Similar Products Used: Stationary bikes and various trainers

at InsideRide.com Bike Setup: Rollers set up was a cinch--the rollers were pre-assembled and I just had to adjust length to match my wheel base. Summary: I was debating between rollers and a trainer and was concerned that riding on rollers was too difficult when I came across the InsideRide rollers in some YouTube videos and was convinced these were the way to go. Strengths: Used all winter long. It's much harder to fall off these rollers than other types. Weaknesses: Expensive, but you get what you pay for. Hopefully with higher volumes they can bring the price down--I couldn't wait. Website lead time was a little optimistic--I waited 5 weeks, but the website said 3, so check before ordering.

at Mock Orange Bikes, W Favorite Ride: US 221 from Blowing Rock, NC to Grandfather Mountain Bike Setup: Cannondale R2000 Ultegra Summary: This review is for those who are new to trainers and want an honest assessment on how easy emotion rollers are to ride. As a long time bike commuter, I have never had the need for a trainer until moving two years ago to the North Carolina Highlands. So after over 35 years of riding, I had never used a trainer or rollers. I was told that rollers were too difficult to master and that they required lots of practice. Well e-motion rollers are a paradigm shift on that notion. I went to a LBS that had them in stock, hopped on and was up and riding on the first try. I had no idea what all the fuss about rollers was, but the salesman said not to try what I did on regular rollers.
Well I have been riding for a few weeks now and love the work out and have never come close to falling off. I have even been standing up and sprinting/climbing. Trust me; I am 6'4" with a high center of gravity and a poor sense of balance, and have been riding in the early morning right after getting up. So if I can ride these things anybody can.
I would bet that all old style rollers are a thing of the past and will go the way of the slide rule. Strengths: Quality of product materials and design.
Absolutely ingenious product, why didn't anyone think of this sooner.
Calling the company to register my product and actually talking to the inventor and owner of the company.
Very comfortable, no seat discomfort. Weaknesses: A bit pricey, but the premium I paid was so I did not have to wait for 6 weeks the product was in backlog. And I supported by LBS. Next year in the dead of winter up here in the mountains of NC, I will be very happy to have my emotion rollers to ride. Similar Products Used: None, so I am a great testament to the value of this new technology.
