Cervelo Prodigy, Dura Ace 10, Zipp CSC wheelset. And my stylin' Nashbar brakes. Summary:
When I bought my bike I blew almost all of my modest budget on getting just frame I wanted, forcing me to built it up with whatever stuff I could come across for cheap, including these brake calipers. Over the subsequent two seasons I've upgraded almost everything but these brakes are still there. I just can't justify replacing them. The stock pads were utter garbage, but the stock pad holders will take any Dura Ace-compatible aftermarket pad (I use Kool Stops and heartily recommend them). That's more that I can say about the FSA Gossamer calipers I have on my other bike. Ever since the the Kool Stops went on there, these brakes have been great. They weigh what they claim to (350g/pr) and I've never detected any noticeable flex or oscillation when braking, even under race conditions. Modulation is not quite Dura-Ace, but fully passable, and the "panic" grab is excellent. Quite honestly I did an all-day ride on Zero Gravity 0G-05 Ti's and I could not distinguish their performance from that of my old "junk" Nashbars. So unless you feel compelled to suffer for fashion.... Strengths:
Competitive weight and fully decent performance for a startlingly inexpensive price. Includes D-Ace compatible pad holders, unlike most cheap brakes. Weaknesses:
Stock pads are not even a little bit passable-- they literally liquified on me. Not exactly going to earn you "bling" points. Made god-knows-where, by god-knows-who. Similar Products Used:
