Price Paid:  $0.00 at Velo Vie Web Site

Model Year:
2007

Bike Setup:
Vision Tech carbon, Dura Ace, Zipp 606

Summary:
My first ride on the Veloce was in a brick workout. I had it fitted and more or less dialed in on the trainer. The first test was going to be at full speed. I figure I will know right away if this is the bike for me.

I Jumped on the bike after a moderately paced run and got going on the machine for 20 minutes of Zone 4 on a rolling course. Wow. That was so much fun. Every pedal stroke when into instant forward motion. It was so smooth at race pace, I just wanted to go faster and faster.

I've raced it twice since then. Both races I've averaged higher speeds than before. I had and average 2 mph faster than the same race last year. I know, hard to believe, but it's true. Fitness gains have to be a part of that, no doubt. But in both races I jumped off the bike in T2 with the legs feeling much fresher than my old ride.

Thoroughly satisfied and looking forward to more racing.

Strengths:
Customer service! They will bend over backwards for you. Dan and Shayna are flat out awesome.

And I heard good things are in the pipleline for the Veloce 200 and 300.

The price per performance, or bang for your buck, are going to be really tough to beat.

Aero and stiff (climbs like a champ and soaks up bumps at high speed)

Handles beautifully at full speed. Just a little pressure from the elbows and your cutting pretty lines.

Semi-custom. Just pick whatever components you want on the website. All bikes should be that easy to build.

Weaknesses:
Really stretching here, but I would say weight. Not that I would take an ounce off of it. I would guess that it's probably middle of the pack in terms of weight. A couple of guys in transition after a race were picking it up and saying they couldn't believe how light it was. Honestly, Scott and Giant seemed lighter to me. But weight isn't why I got it. I'm looking for something that fits me, doesn't fatigue me, and let's me be as fast as my potential. That's the Veloce.
