Bike Setup: KHS Flite 300, upgraded to Ultegra, Velomax tempests (of course), and Uzo Pro Comp fork.
Summary: Very strong wheels. I ride a fair amount of rough, bumpy, very hilly roads and these wheels have held up superbly after 3000 miles in the 8 months since I bought them. Great wheels for triathlons, TT's, and road races. Very light and fast for the money. True as the day the got them. Very smooth spinning hubs. Good riding on hills. Very responsive.
Summary: Simply put, the best wheels I have ever ridden on. Very fast, they roll far longer just by spinning the wheel than anything I have tried. After hitting numerous pothols, they reming perfectly true. They , in my opinion , are far better the the mavice ksyriums. No flex
Strengths: All the above
Weaknesses: finish and decals worn after a year
Similar Products Used: mavic ksyriums

Bike Setup: 20+ year old Davidson, with a mix of parts from that era.
Summary: Bought these when looking for a replacement front clincher, got tired of the old sewups. Took the pair for a very reasonable price and put the front on with a GP3000 tire and was thoroughly amazed. I immediately cut about 2 minutes off my usual park ride. With that I decided I needed to try the rear out too so I put on a Shimano 9 speed cassette/chain, put it onto the old bike with the Campy NR shifters, and I just cannot believe how much more responsive my bike is. When I step it up, the bike just goes. Going uphill is also much improved, I had given up on my bike as being too old, but these have rejuvenated it. And in a side note, the Shimano 9sp works great with the old Campy. No indexing, but shifts flawlessly.
I had decided that a new bike was in order when I started riding again, but now I don't know with these wheels.
Strengths: Very fast, very light compared to what I had. Even though these are used, I can't tell. I have my brake pads closer to the rims than I ever had before. No wobble whatsoever.
Summary: I purchased these early in '03 as they were being replaced by new Tempest IIs. These are great wheels. I wanted Orion's but 'settled' for these. I have a couple of thousand miles on these and they are as true as the day I got them. I was a little concerned about strength (185 lbs) but these have been great. They are extremely smooth and very comfortable to ride. I would recommend any Velomax wheel based on the ride and build quality of these. Under HEAVY cornering, I perceive a little flex, but nothing major, almost imperceptible. Since I am not racing anymore, and my pockets are not bottomless, I would have a hard time paying $699 for ANY wheelset - but I wouldn't have been disappointed if I had.
Strengths: Smooth, best-built/truest/toughest wheel I have ridden.
Weaknesses: None really, perhaps the smallest amount of flex under HEAVY side load (cornering).

Bike Setup: Trek 5500, dura ace, Look, Conti GP 3000.
Summary: OK, this is a little early to get all excited as I only have 120 miles on these things but I am extrememly pleased so far. I had significant reservations about dropping my 40 spoke wheels-I weigh 250-going with anything that seemed less bomb proof. After two rides with a couple of long grinding climbs, a 48 mph winding downhill, some hammered rollers, one short very steep standing climb, and throwing the bike into corners, these wheels have been flawless. No brake scrub from flexing, no mushiness in corners, and when you wind them up to sprint you better be ready to go. I'll check back in when the miles pile up but so far if you are beyond Clydesdale-like the whole Bud team-as I am, these wheels may be the ones.
Strengths: Strong, no flexing yet supple ride. Striking appearance.
Weaknesses: Need to use those goofy long valve tubes.
