| BH Bikes is one of Europe’s most storied bicycle makers.
2009 marks the 100th year of bicycle production for BH (Beistegui Hermanos or Beistegui Brothers). In 1909 the company began making bicycles using its metal forming know-how learned making guns in the small Basque town of Eibar in the mountains of Northern Spain. Cycling in Northern Spain was, and still is, a sport for hard men who can suffer the steep climbs of the Pyrenees and have the fortitude and skill to bomb down the same mountains with grace and skill.
It is these mountains that have shaped the character of every BH bike made in the past 100 years. From the beginning our bikes have been built to climb with ease and descend with confidence. It’s no wonder BH won the first Vuelta a Espana in 1935 and have won it six times since. BH sponsored its own professional team for years, competing in the major tours, including the Tour de France. It was at the Tour that BH rider Federico Echave won the legendary Alp d’Huez. Switchback #10 bears his name to celebrate the occasion.
In the modern era, BH has become a global player by making bikes that handle telepathically, from the Spanish Pyrenees to the Rocky Mountains. BH is ushering in the new era in cycling with the sponsorship of the AG2RLaMondiale squad and its commitment to returning the sport to its former glory. AG2R was incredibly successful in its first year on BH, winning stages in the Tour de France, Dauphine Libere, GP Lugano, Paris Nice and more.
The US arm of BH is but one year old, but has delivered on the promise of delivering the best riding bikes and providing the best service in the industry. We are a core group of cyclists with a combined 100+ years of experience in the industry and we know what you demand in a bicycle. Already in our first year we have sponsored some of the best young cyclists in the country, providing us with invaluable feedback into how to make our bikes even better for 2009. Take a look at our line of high-performance bikes and you’ll see we take our jobs seriously. We have worked incredibly hard to make every single bike we build even better, whether it’s making the bikes lighter, stiffer or more ergonomic. It has been a lot of hard work, but at the end of the day it means you (and us) have more fun doing what we love most - riding our bikes. |
