Summary:
I was forced to buy this bike after my beloved Raleigh Royale finally broke in half mid-ride after being hit the fourth time and the welding weakened the steel frame to the point of no return. This bike is a death waiting to happen. The fork shakes VIOLENTLY and no bike shop I have taken it to understands what the problem is. It nearly killed me this summer whilst cycling downhill.

Summary:
Awesome ride. 1st cross bike so not much to compare it to. I am a heavy rider (250 Lbs) but I can give this bike a ride and it holds me at bay. No flex seen yet but it dont shake my teeth out of my head either. Take 1 4 a spin sometime you might like it.

Strengths:
The stiff frame. Good starters groupo. The way it climbs. Feels great even seven hours straight riding.

Weaknesses:
The fork vibration. The stock rims. Braking system. Some times I feel I cant stop with out damage. I scream down hills so I want to trust my brakes.

None. My Mtn Bikes dont even compare but dont tell them that...they are feeling neglected.

Summary:
Some what disappointed because I had read so many good reviews of the bike. The fork vibration is disconcerting, as is the gear slip. No one had come up with a reason except for making cracks that I am to heavy for the bike, and I ain't fat. Still love to ride long, but this thing won't see too many trails. Handles poorly on challenging terrain, but fine on road or simple single track. Its still good bang for the buck, though I would have like to found a steal for half the price. I think lighter guys will appreciate the bike more (Around 200lbs and less) Peace

Strengths:
New to road/cyclocross, so the speed is great(though 11-26 would be better. I wind out on a downhill too easily) Difference in gearing lets me go longer distances in half the time. Traditionally I am a MTB'er, 300crankscycles to one roadie crank cycle. Over all a fun bike that has less single track capability than I had been led to believe. Surprisingly, it takes quite a pounding.

Weaknesses:
I weigh in at 6'1" 225. The fork vibrates front to rear during hard breaking to the point it is near invisible to the naked eye. Regardless of how I dial in my rear derailure, or have a pro work it, my chain still slips while under heavy cranking up hill in 3 and 4th rear gears (this occurs in the same gears in either chain ring). This happens any time I am in these gears, not when changing gears. When changing, they seat nicely, its under hard cranking the chains starts slipping.

Salsa stem and Bell Lap bars, Ultegra STI drivetrain, SRP Gumpy Canti's, Mavic 601 hubs w/revolutions to 28 spoke Open 4 rims, Michelin Mud Cross tires, Ringle seatpost, Bontrager Ti seat.

Summary:
I love this bike. If I could have only one bike (thank God that's not true) let it be cross. I purchased this bike slightly used off the internet and built it up with a mix of old and new components. This was my first and only cross bike to date. I raced it in four races of Suburu series here in North Carolina. It provided a low cost entry into the cross scene (without going the MTB route) and definately got me hooked on cross. The more I rode this bike the more I fell in love with it. The frame is very comfortable for aluminum. It handles great for both road rides and singletrack (snappy). The top tube cable routing makes shouldering the bike a breeze and keeps everything clean in the muck. I am 6 feet tall with a 35 inch inseam; the 58cm fits me like a glove.

Strengths:
This bike has a great ride, both on road and off. The aluminum frame is stiff without beating the rider to death on epics. The color is great if you like gold - DiscoTrek.

Weaknesses:
Trek had to name the bike after a now DEFUNCT product line, aka the Bridgestone XO-1. Hmmmmmmm...perhaps that was in loving memory. RIP.

Stock, except I changed to a Sugino crankset and 36x48t chain rings.

Summary:
So far the bike has proved to be indestructable. I use it to commute and take on regional cross races. Its a good starter Cross bike, but you'll need to tweak it if you really get into cross racing. The sizing problem I have and the use of the shaped down tube makes sholdering the bike a bit difficult. I would recomend the bike to a begining cross racer who would be willing to make some upgades.

Strengths:
Good starter Cross bike, nice lower end Rolf wheel set (I use mine as spares during road season).

Weaknesses:
The gearing is wrong for true Cross racing, I had to swap out the 38x50t chain rings for 36x48t. I found the sizing to be hard to fit me, the large(58) was too big and the med.(55) to small.
