Product Description

This performance electric bike is ideal for those wanting an alternative, environmentally friendly way to commute or to just cruise the countryside.. Combined with a 7-speed manual drivetrain, the electric motor is great for hill climbing and added acceleration. The 36-volt motor provides 500 watts continuous power to boost your pedaling power and features cruise control to maintain consistent speed. Power on demand provides instant acceleration without pedaling--just press the throttle to engage the motor and you're on your way!. Features two power modes: Performance for speeds of 18 mph, climbing and acceleration; or Economy for speeds of 12 mph and energy conservation. Removable battery pack with built-in charger enables you to charge the battery on or off the bike using any 110 volt outlet. Battery fully charges in four hours and provides a range of 20+ miles with moderate pedaling under normal conditions. Zokes front suspension forks provide 65mm of travel for a soft and comfortable ride. A 7-speed drivetrain with a Shimano Acera derailleur allow you to easily select the right gear for climbing hills or cruising top speed on the flats. Sturdy mountain-bike linear pull brakes provide reliable stopping power and speed control on both front and rear wheels. Upright riding position ensures maximum hand, arm and back comfort. Quick-release seatpost clamp allows you to easily adjust seat height, while the touring seat with springs provides a custom shape for enhanced comfort. Safety features include a halogen headlight, LED brake light, electric horn, rear view mirror and reflective sidewall tires.

Strengths:    Power, Speed, looks

Weaknesses:    The battery may be to weak for the 500 watt motor.

Bottom Line:
I bought the 36 volt touring bike from E-lectric Wheels of Florida. The bike looks good and runs fine with no problems but on economy mode the battery will last only 15 - 20 minutes. I have disconnected the brake lights and tried pedaling more but the bike will only go around five miles before the battery is dead and the 500 watt motor shuts off.

Strengths:    Not even able to know until the front wheel arrive for one week.

Weaknesses:    Quality Assurance.

Bottom Line:
Be ware of EV Global's quality assurance.

I ordered a 36 volt SX e-bike from online store on 07/03/2003 and have it drop ship directly from EV Global. The bike arrived in very nice un-damaged box and all the parts are systematically tied for shipping. But the front wheel rim had a couple of deep scratches. I was trying to live with the scratches and put air in it. The damn thing made air seeping sound as soon as I put air in it. EV Global would not believe what I told about the scratched rim and would not willing to improve their production line for the future, instead, I was told that it should be happened during shipping and I should buy from a local store to avoid this kind of thing (ironically, they are selling those on-line). I called up to the online store and he had the same experience on two of those bikes from the recent shipment.

Strengths:    Speed and power

Weaknesses:    durability and maintenance

Bottom Line:
The 36 volt SX e-bike from EV Global has been a lot of fun for commuting to work. The first year it ran very well. Recently I have been having problems with the motor. It has become virtually impossible to ride. I do not beleive it was worth the cost. I am having a very difficult time locating anyone to fix it.
