Strengths:    The component set

Weaknesses:    The saddle. I replaced it with a Body Geometry Comp saddle. Now it's perfect.

Bottom Line:
I have the 2001 model. I already had a 1999 Giant Rincon that I'm very happy with, but I wanted a commuter bike, which the Giant wasn't very good at. One test ride on the Jamis convinced me. The bike handles like a dream, shifting is crisp and precise, and the brakes stop on a dime. It has a granny gear that you can use to climb Mount Everest.

The 2001 Citizen came in as the second best city bike in Bicycle magazine's 2001 buyers guide. The Jamis Tangier (next model up) came in first.

Strengths:    Great value for the money.

Weaknesses:    Seat is only somewhat comfortable. May swap them.

Bottom Line:
My wife bought a Citizen and liked it so mauch she spent weeks trying to convince me to buy one for myself. Finally she just went back to our LBS and bought one for me. We love them, had 2 much older road bikes by a company called Takara. But this time we knew we wanted comfort/hybrid bikes only. Fit and finish were flawless, all components worked smoothly and the price was right. Though we do have 2001 models and they were a bit more expensive than the price shown on this site at $280.
