Strengths:    Great value for the money. For someone like me who is just getting back into cycling and doesn't want to drop big bucks, it's a great deal. None of the components are top of the line, but it's all good quality at a good price.

Weaknesses:    Not really a weakness, but I would have preferred a lower riding position.

Bottom Line:
I bought a leftover '99 C200 because in my opinion the C series has gotten much closer to a cruiser in the years since then with the suspension seats, front suspension forks, and geometry. I was looking for a hybrid that was leaning much more towards the road bike side.

The '99 C200 has a relatively horizontal top tube and the seat is back more over the rear wheel (when compare with the 2000 and 2001's). Stem is purposefully high, but with the basic geometry and lack of suspensions, I feel I can make it into an almost-road bike just by swapping out the wheels with thinner ones and replacing the stem and handebars (which I might do eventually).

Strengths:    I have the 1998 version. It is easy to ride, perfect for short commutes and just plain old fun riding around.

Weaknesses:    I don't know if it is me, but I must have popped about 10 spokes on the rear wheel in the past two years. The dealer was great and respoked the whole wheel, but the problem persists.

Bottom Line:
A good all around value. I really shopped around and found that Raleigh lives up to its reputation as putting out quality frames with good components at much less than the competition (e.g., Trek, Cannondale, etc.) This is the third Raleigh I've owned (going back to a 1980 Gran Prix and a 1986 Technium), and its great except for that bit about the spokes.

Bike Setup:   I put on a Blackburn trail rack and a rack trunk to carry small stuff. For commuting to the office I use saddle bags. Otherwise everything else is stock.

Strengths:
Easy to ride. Great for school and groceries. Very durable.

Weaknesses:
Weak brakes. 40 degree handlebar stem is too high.

Bottom Line:
I put on SPD pedals (Shimano). Then I tossed the seat in favor of a Avocet Mountain R 30. I installed a Jandd Expedition rear rack. I also installed a 10 degree steering stem so I didn't sit up so straight. I ride it every day as I don't use an automobile. It make for an excellent towney bike for the money.
