Strengths:    Sturdy and dependable.

Weaknesses:    Heavy!!

Bottom Line:
I got it to commute. For fun I have a Cannondale R600. It has served me well. I have about 3500 miles on it with only a front derailleur cable replacement necessary. It's heavy but it gets me there. I will probably replace the chain soon.

Strengths:    solid performance year round durability has been very good. one warenty claim took almost a month to resolve, but specialized was very nice about it.

Weaknesses:    HEAVY but what do you expect at this price

Bottom Line:
in 2000 I put 2200 miles on this bike and only about 700 on my bianchi raceing bike because it is so much more comfortable to ride. The only reason I don't ride this bike exclusively is the weight (around 32lbs) makes it a pain on long rides or uphill

Strengths:    Great ride. Very comfortable.

Weaknesses:    Gearing slips sometimes.

Bottom Line:
This is the first bike that I have had since I was 16. It is a very comfortable, yet sporty ride. The longest ride I have done on it was a 60-miler out to Montauk Point in Long Island. My average speed was 18 mph and the bike was fine the entire way. I do a lot of riding in Manhattan and it is able to handle the potholes and the hills in Central Park equally well. For a first time cyclist, this is a great bike. I have upgraded to a Litespeed Tuscany road bike and I will let you know how that is in a few months.

Strengths:    Great light weight frame, reasonable components and a ride to die for.

Weaknesses:    I'll let you know if I ever find one.

Bottom Line:
I bought this bike because I wanted the freedom of the upright world, with a ride and weight that would still make if fun to ride. This bike has unleased my inner child (and I'm a whopping 42 years old)! I use it to ride along with my hubby while he does his marathon training; I use it to go get a latte; I use it to save on gas and head to Target; I use it along one of the best bike paths known to man along the beautiful Columbia River in Washington state. This bike is the laid back bike of all times, and Specialized did a good job of making sure it could still withstand a bit of off road to boot. When I want to go fast, I go Bianchi. When I want to go laid back, this is the bike. Buy one!

Strengths:    Seems to be well built. Good price for what you get.

Weaknesses:    Only color is silver

Bottom Line:
Its been 20 years since I rode a bike. I'm 6'1", 245 lbs. I bought the bike to get some exercise. This bike seems to be holding up very well against my weight and my daily 6 mile commute. Since I'm riding more on the road than dirt, I like the 700x38 size tires. Not as thin, or fast as a road bike tire but gives a better ride than a mountain bike tire. I shopped around at 7 different bike shops. Each time the sales people gave the SPECIALIZED CROSSROADS brand there highest rating for my needs.
The bottom line for me was...PRICE($319.00)& DURABILITY. I like this bike alot.
