Strengths:    This bike has a comfortable ride and it's sure footed. It glides effortlessly over small potholes, curbs, railroad track crossings, twigs & pebbles, etc.. It goes really fast when I pedal like a maniac. The 700C 38 tires are wonderful. The aluminum frame is light weight and won't rust. The brakes are powerful. Rear shifting is silky smooth. Front [up] shifting requires a long stroke.

Weaknesses:    Component reviews stink for the Forearm crank. I'm not beating on the bike, so I can't really say anything good or bad. The seat had to be changed because it was too painful. I had two flats (front and rear tubes) within four days. Both holes were on the inside of the tubes. The dealer replaced the tubes without any hassle and I haven't had a flat since then. The handlebars are a little too wide and straight to suit me.

Bottom Line:
The front shock smooths out the bumps nicely. I'm not sure if the seat post shock is worthwhile or not. The Elite is classy looking and a joy to ride. I saw it first at specialized's web site. I wasn't expecting to pay over $500 for a get-in-shape-bike, but ... after seeing it at a few bike stores I knew what I wanted. I considered a similarly configured Raleigh for ~$300. I'm glad I spent a little more, 'cause this is a nice bike. Bicycle Frame Size: Medium; My age: 40+, My weight: 200lbs+, My height: 5'10"

Strengths:    Price, bigtime !!! I was looking at the Trek 7700 and for over a grand, "I was like are you "F" ing kidding me?". This ran me $525 bucks. The Body Geometry hand grips are incredibly comfortable. Whatever vibrations and bumps the suspension fork lets through, these grips absorb. They're kinda oval shaped and fit in your hand perfectly. Numbness is almost gone completely. Major kudos. Retro frame is killer too.

Weaknesses:    A little heavier then I'd like. But that's my only real beef. I don't know why Specialized changed the size of thier Comfort saddle. This years model is a little narrower in the "cheek" area then the previous years model that I have on my other bikes. So I just swapped it with one on my old ones. Suspension seat post, you either love 'em, or hate 'em. I have mind adujusted so it only takes away the harshest of bumps. Besides, the suspension fork and grips combined with riding gloves smooth out the ride plenty enough.

Bottom Line:
Absolutely comfortable ride ! Nice up right ride, but not too upright like a "Boss Crusier", you can still jam. Adjustable handle bars, suspension fork, Retro frame, paint job, hand grips, Rolls great with the 700x38c wheels. Tires are also the "Flak Jacket" puncture resistant tires they're pushing. It does give you a little added confidence about maybe getting fewer flats. Only time will tell though.

This rig is a Cadillac ride.
