Price Paid:  $180.00 at scheels

Bike Setup:
added pedal clips & climbing bars

Summary:
Great value for daily commuting. I use to have a hybrid w/ skinny tires. For what I used it for it got me there fast, but a a little dangerous. the mt bike is a lot more manuverable & braking is a lot better. This bike has front shocks & good components for the price.

Strengths:
sturdy steal body, balance, & gear shift is consistent over time.

Weaknesses:
frame is heavy, the pedal plate is one peice (if it gets bent your out of luck), & the color is this autrcious blue (drawbacks of the sale price)

Similar Products Used:
trek 8700 ( no comparison, but mine got stolen)

Price Paid:  $270.00 at Trek Dealer in Monte

Favorite Ride:
820 Trek

Summary:
I just purchased an 820 and 800 for me and my wife. I just upgraded the 800 to an 820 for my wife and she loves it. The 800 was a bit uncomfortable especially for the type of use needed. We live in a very hilly city where its not unusual to ride on sidewalks, streets and gravel roads. The front suspension is great, it cushions the ride and the speed is fine for my needs in this city. I have read several reviews and most of them have rated the 820 as a good ride for the money. I agree with that. The reviews stated its cons which were the low speed and the front suspension. I can see how more experienced bikers can see that as weakness in this bike, but for normal bikers and not for the advanced road racers, this bike is very comfortable (I had the seats changed for gels) the ride is fast, not speedy, but who needs it with all the traffic now, and it appears to be durable. The gears work smoothly and the overall look of the bike is sporty. I'm happy with my purchase and who knows in a couple of years, I might upgrade to a higher model or just stick with the one I have now.

Strengths:
Durable, smooth and comfortable ride, smooth and quick speed change, low price and sporty look. Frame and style provides good back support.

Weaknesses:
For the 820, none for now, for the 800 maybe apply front suspension.

Similar Products Used:
800 is a bit heavy and will require front suspensions for off road rides. Front suspension are a necessary comfort.

Price Paid:  $350.00 at village cycle

Favorite Ride:
Trek 820

Bike Setup:
Stock Setup, upgraded seat, bigger water bottle =)

Summary:
I am a very aggressive rider (bounce off walls, stairs, dirt, curbs) and this bike holds together very well. One of the best Bikes I have ever owned. I highly recommend this bike to beginners, and Seasoned Bikers. You shouldn't buy this bike if you aren't going to use all of the great features(great brakes, shock, strong frame). The setup can make the bike useless to just plain joy riders. If you want a joy ride, try the Cruiser line of Treks.

Strengths:
Great overall Bike, Great Shifter Positioning, Nice seat, Good stability, Nice shock absorbance

Weaknesses:
It doesn't have the best top speed

None
