Strengths:    I tested the 2001 Activa CSX with a Women's step through frame. (Site not updated for this year.) It is a VERY comfortable ride. With the suspension seat and front fork, and Cromoly frame this bike really dampens vibration. Easy to ride.

Weaknesses:    With the geometry of this bike, climbing rugged terrain will take serious skill and determination. Do not buy this for off road.

Bottom Line:
I am a Mountain Biker looking for a commuter bike. I rode several and came back to this bike. (I saw this one first.) I did not want a road bike. I wanted the stability and versatility of a fat tire. I also wanted major comfort for going to work. I liked it so much that I bought it. This bike was priced better than the other bikes with comparable components in the same price range.

Strengths:    retro-frame design, very comfortable ride due to selle stratos saddle, suspension seat post and RST 701 suspension front fork

Weaknesses:    front gripshifter/front derailleur, original tire treads that have "slits" on the face of the tire for traction but all they do is collect small rocks and pieces of glass, not great at making tight turns

Bottom Line:
Though I had some initial trouble shifting with the front derailleur, once the bike shop replaced the shifters and derailleur, this bike has been wonderful to ride. I've ridden about 150 miles in the past 3 months on street and bike paths and each ride has been a smooth and enjoyable experience. The frame design gives it a classic "cruiser" look which I like a lot. I'd recommend it to anyone who enjoys a ride in the park or short trips.

Strengths:    I only tested it, but this bike seemed like a great bike for commuting. I love the frame!

Weaknesses:    Couldn't tell because I only demo'd

Bottom Line:
I demo'd this bike for most of the day. I rode it around city streets, over pot holes, off curbs, I put it throught my little torture test of riding that I find myself doing. I am really interested in getting a bike for commuting and I think this is the bike for me. I am going back real soon to purchase it!!!! Great bike the price!!!!
