Strengths: Very quick, full carbon fork. Confidence builder in the corners. Outsprint anyone if you have the legs.Weaknesses: Mass production paint job is not perfect, but performance overshadows this defect and I could are less about the looks. Function, not fashion!Bottom Line: 3000 Si Model CAAD5 Full Dura-Ace and Mavic Ksyriums. It retailed last year for @ $3500 at the LBS, but I found it way under that. For the price, it is a great deal. Can beat any $5K Ti or Carbon bikes out there. If you have the opportunity to pick one up used, I highly recommend it. It may not impress the Euro snobs in your riding circles, but they'll see the CAAD 5 decals on the rear seat stays as you pass them by. Amongst the lightest out there. Super fast, awesome and stiff. Exactly what you want for sprints and climbs. All the Power goes to the ground where it belongs. The Ksyriums make it even quicker. They might not be the lightest wheels, but they are an excellent balance between strength and lightness. I have yet to pull it out of true in 8 mos. of riding on LA roads and I can hammer on the flats. I would put this up against any Euro( or domestic) Ti or Carbon any day of the week. The tubes are thin in places( you could dent it with your fingers if you tried) and the bike seems very fragile at first because it is so light, and I mean light! The notion of fragility disappears as soon as you get out of the saddle and sprint. Rock solid. I am also 6' and 190lbs(thick) and cannot detect a hint of flex. It can be a little nervous and twitchy at first but you get used to it. This is due to the geometry, but this is also why it handles so well in the corners. I have spent time on a Colnago Ovalmaster Ti and that seemed like wet spaghetti compared to the Cannondale. This is the second Cannondale I have owned and the paint is about a 8, but the welds are a 9.9 It is full Dura-Ace, 'nuff said. I have heard that it may be too stiff for some long rides, or pansies, but I don't get that fatigue. My retort to that critique is that the energy wasted in a flexing frame causes greater energy waste than feeling road vibrations. You can be very competitive on this bike.
