Strengths: Lower than anything easy to find in the US.
Hydralic Disc Brakes inspire confidence.Weaknesses: Lower than a rearview mirror and no bottle braze-onsBottom Line: Purchased as a complete kit for $1200, Optima had screwed up quite a few things. A cable stop rivited on backwards, Chain was 15" too short, many small parts were missing, nothing that would not be on a built up bike from the factory. It's great, real comfortable for having no suspension and a ridged seat (even without the HUGE foam pad)
Price Paid:
$1200.00
Purchased At: triketrails.com

Bike Setup: A 63-52-38 triple in front for the downhills. And a rack on back, A mirror, a water bottle mount add

Strengths: Very comfortable
The fastest recumbent I have ridden
Outstanding looksWeaknesses: Not a recumbent to run to the grocery store withBottom Line: The Baron even looks fast when its not moving. The first time you board this rocket ship you question your ability to control it. The sitting position, at first, seems somewhat strange.
Within 15 minutes of riding the Baron, the riding position feels great. Your entire back is cradled with the seat. No need to take your feet off the peddles when stopped. Just put your hand down !! Although you have to bend your head forward I do not notice any neck strain. I added the optional head support. I have ridden the Baron on 75 mile rides(one five minute stop). The only sore part of my body were my legs.
Without question, I would ride a century with it. Because of the "low" ride I prefer to ride out on open roads versus using it as a city bike. The Baron makes an outstanding rails to trail recumbent. I installed B & M mirrors (long stem) for rear visability. The mirrors, I think, are a must.
It's great on hill climbs. The Baron really moves out on rollers.
Because all of the cables are run through the Tiller, it takes a while to get the shifting cables dialed in. I have not had a problem with part failures including the carbon seat. I have ridden over 1,000 miles on it so far this year. The Baron really turns heads along with "cool machine", "I want one"...

Strengths: Fast, incrdibly fast! Beautiful sexy machine. Great folks at Yellow bike. Super people skills.Weaknesses: Vecrow glue came off seat. Cushion poorly trimmed. Loose revets.Bottom Line: Beautiful, fast. Yellow bike needs to pay more attention to minor details; most cosmetic. Like most euro low racers comfort is compromised for speed. Great fun. Kicked local (young) racers butt. Got little taste of how Lance must of felt on TDF. If speed and looks are what you want - this bike for you.
Favorite Ride: GOBA

Strengths: Looks are not too bad , light weighth, not too intimidating for 1st time ridersWeaknesses: BB is not high enough on the normal version (frontal area) no monoblade front fork available , carbon seat cracks easily (cracked during testing), frame not very stiff , tiller can breakBottom Line: There is better quality stuff on the market for that price and faster too . Design is beginning to show its age . Money will be better spent on a Challenge Jester ,Taifun or M5 Low or Shockproof
Favorite Ride: Cyclevison
