Strengths:    The whole summary is full of strengths

Weaknesses:    The frame was built with RSX components that had a 48T outer chainring. The front derailleur will not work with anything larger than a 50T outer chainring. This isn't a big deal, but I had to buy a smaller chainring for the ultegra crankset to fit, which comes with a 53T.

Bottom Line:
Mongoose triathlon frame? I never thought I would be riding one, but here I am. I was looking for a nice aero triathlon frame and I found this one for dirt cheap. It has a nice red paint and the welding looks strong. The frame also has a cut out for the rear wheel to tuck in for a very aero ride. The only thing this frame lacks is a fancy high priced name. I would buy another if I could find one.

Strengths:    This bike will grow with your riding skill. Great paint. Very predictable, stiff ride. Very stylish.

Weaknesses:    It should come with better components and wheels.

Bottom Line:
ok, I didn't know mongoose brought back the aluminum road series. Anyway, I will tell about the RX 5.5. It is the upgraded version of the 5.3. These were last built in 1998. It resembles the specialized s-works but is grey in color. The 5.3 comes in a beauitiful red paint.

I received it with 105 components. I upgraded to durace 9 speed. Wheels were upgraded to mavic open pro's. Dimension head. Salsa short and sassy bars.

I love this bike. At first I thought it was slow and hated it. After a lot conditioning and some good components, and learning proper riding technique, I suddenly realized its potential. It is strong, light enough, and conforms in every way to my style of riding. Sometimes I time trial against myself, sometimes I commute for training. I found it extremely crash worthy. Paint holds extremely well.
