Price Paid:  $500.00 at Cycles Dauphin - UK

Bike Setup:
Frame is fitted with the original steel fork, Chris King Headset, Campag Centaur groupset with 2009 levers and mechs but 2008 alloy chainset, Campag Khamsin wheels, Conti GP 4 Season 25 tyres, Campag Daytona seatpost, Deda bars and stem, Arione saddle, full mudguards.

Summary:
This is a beautiful bike. It feels really smooth, and seems to dampen the vibrations from the road, but is also stiff and responsive e.g. climbing out of the saddle or accelerating out of a corner. This is going to be a great bike for the winter and Audaxes. (the price paid is for the frame and fork only).

Strengths:
Comfort, smooth ride, traditional looks.

Weaknesses:
The frame I have is from one of the last batches made, and the rear drop outs used are shorter than on previous ones. This means that running 10sp when the chain is on the smallest sprocket it will clash with the seat stay. Some people have the frame filled for clearance, but I've chosen to set the rear mech up so that the smallest sprocket is not available.

Dura ace(old stuff)chainset, campag shifters and mechs, pinarello bars/stem

Summary:
The Sestriere is a brilliant, comfy training bike, is is cool and functional, having the clearance for mudguards and fat tyres if required.
A couple of months ago i had a mishap on my race bike, so i took the guards off the sestriere put on some decent wheels and used it to finish off my season, getting 4th and 6th places on it!!

Strengths:
Comfy, cool,

Weaknesses:
would have benefitted from rack bosses, however might spoil the looks

Price Paid:  $1100.00 at Burgess Cycles, Padi

Favorite Ride:
Ribble Valley, Lancashire

Bike Setup:
Campagnola Daytona groupset, Mavic Open Pro wheels

Summary:
I love it! Looks terrific, handles superbly, goes like the wind.

I wanted a light tourer suitable for fast day rides/light touring/wet weather. I had never even heard of Pinarello until I saw a Sestriere on a club ride. It was a close call between a Mercian audax frame and the Pinarello. Once I'd heard about Pinarello's history and saw the frame my mind was made up.

I've taken it around Europe and it attracts compliments wherever I go. It's an absolute joy to ride. I would definitely buy the same again next time.

Strengths:
Great handling, reasonably light weight given its roles. Terrific looking.

Weaknesses:
None as far as I'm concerned

Similar Products Used:
Trek 2300 with same Campagnola group set and wheels

Price Paid:  $1200.00 at JE James, Cesterfield

Favorite Ride:
Peak District

Bike Setup:
Campag Veloce group, Daytona brakes, Chorus pin, Ambrosio Evolution rims, Prolink Transam, Axial Pro Winters, Cateye Astrale

Summary:
Wanted a winter bike with mudguards (fenders). Looked around and considered a custom build but was then told Pinarello were bringing out a version with mudguard eyes. Endured a three-month wait before it turned up. Built up into a great winter bike with (almost) the kind of handling I am used to with my Pinarello Surprise. More comfortable though.

When cleaned up after one of the typical foul-weather rides for which it was bought, it just looks great.

Bought another to the same spec for my wife and she is absolutely delighted.

The price above is for the complete bike.

Strengths:
Handling, comfortable ride, finish

Weaknesses:
yet to find any apart from the fact that it looks too nice to be used for its intended purchase (winter bike with mudguards). Very limited choice of colours ( solid red or metallic blue ). Bought two, one of each colour for my wife and myself.

Similar Products Used:
Olmo, custom build

Bike Setup:
Mavic rims, Cinelli stem and bars, Shimano 105 groupo, Sella Italia Flight saddle, Look pedals.

Summary:
A great steel frame for training and the occasional race. It's by far the most comfortable bike I've ridden. The acceleration is much slower than the Cannondale but when it gets going....Steel characteristics are perfect for a road bike but you compromise on weight. I'd rather have Campag running gear but at the end of the day, I chose price/performance over form. I'd recommend this bike for as an entry level for the serious enthusiast who is after the Italian name and likes the occassional race.

Strengths:
Great steel frame. Stiff and yet provides a comfortable day in the saddle.

Weaknesses:
Weight - it's light for steel but can't compare to aluminium or carbon.

Similar Products Used:
Cannondale R400
