Strengths: Comfort, especially on longer rides. Durability (almost unbreakable!).Confidence inspiring.
This bike is an EXCELLENT training tool. The added weight will require that you become stronger, especially when climbing. You really feel the difference when you get back onto the carbon in summer.
Carbon is all the craze because the pros use it (yes...I've a carbon as well!), but steel is overlooked, because it is beautiful to ride, as well as to look at. Great admiring glances received on each ride!
Lastly, it's a quick bike that doesn't give away too much to the average carb or alu!
Weaknesses: Weight - steel is heavier, so it will tell amongst equal level riders in race or training situations.
Rust - eventually some rust will show...BUT STEEL IS EASY TO REPAINT!
Bottom Line:
A magniificent frame and ride that I would recommend to every roadie, if you can get hold of one. The ride quality is unsurpassed, and the benefits of training one one are immediately apparent.
I have nothing bad to say about this bike. If you've any reservations about owning a steel bike, see if you can get a ride on one of these! You'll change your mind!

Strengths: Comfort, smooth ride, traditional looks.
Weaknesses: The frame I have is from one of the last batches made, and the rear drop outs used are shorter than on previous ones. This means that running 10sp when the chain is on the smallest sprocket it will clash with the seat stay. Some people have the frame filled for clearance, but I've chosen to set the rear mech up so that the smallest sprocket is not available.
Bottom Line:
This is a beautiful bike. It feels really smooth, and seems to dampen the vibrations from the road, but is also stiff and responsive e.g. climbing out of the saddle or accelerating out of a corner. This is going to be a great bike for the winter and Audaxes. (the price paid is for the frame and fork only).

Bike Setup: Frame is fitted with the original steel fork, Chris King Headset, Campag Centaur groupset with 2009 levers and mechs but 2008 alloy chainset, Campag Khamsin wheels, Conti GP 4 Season 25 tyres, Campag Daytona seatpost, Deda bars and stem, Arione saddle, full mudguards.
Weaknesses: would have benefitted from rack bosses, however might spoil the looks
Bottom Line:
The Sestriere is a brilliant, comfy training bike, is is cool and functional, having the clearance for mudguards and fat tyres if required.
A couple of months ago i had a mishap on my race bike, so i took the guards off the sestriere put on some decent wheels and used it to finish off my season, getting 4th and 6th places on it!!

Strengths: Great handling, reasonably light weight given its roles. Terrific looking.
Weaknesses: None as far as I'm concerned
Bottom Line:
I love it! Looks terrific, handles superbly, goes like the wind.
I wanted a light tourer suitable for fast day rides/light touring/wet weather. I had never even heard of Pinarello until I saw a Sestriere on a club ride. It was a close call between a Mercian audax frame and the Pinarello. Once I'd heard about Pinarello's history and saw the frame my mind was made up.
I've taken it around Europe and it attracts compliments wherever I go. It's an absolute joy to ride. I would definitely buy the same again next time.

Strengths: Handling, comfortable ride, finish
Weaknesses: yet to find any apart from the fact that it looks too nice to be used for its intended purchase (winter bike with mudguards). Very limited choice of colours ( solid red or metallic blue ). Bought two, one of each colour for my wife and myself.
Bottom Line:
Wanted a winter bike with mudguards (fenders). Looked around and considered a custom build but was then told Pinarello were bringing out a version with mudguard eyes. Endured a three-month wait before it turned up. Built up into a great winter bike with (almost) the kind of handling I am used to with my Pinarello Surprise. More comfortable though.
When cleaned up after one of the typical foul-weather rides for which it was bought, it just looks great.
Bought another to the same spec for my wife and she is absolutely delighted.
