Strengths: Originally designed for mis-matched cyclists. Variable cadence for the stoker. Unequalled view for the stoker. Rugged. Good camera platform.Weaknesses: Less steady (for me) during slow sharp turns. I have my stoker stop pedalling then.Bottom Line: Actually I have one of the original Opus II's produced 18 years ago when Jim Weaver ran things. Same basic design. Two well matched, fit cyclists who both can see might do as well on a normal tandem. If there are weight, fitness, vision, cadence, and other problems a Counterpoint of any Opus number can provide some answers. I've found mine especially good for camera work. Only the cameraperson almost always has to stop pedalling in order to keep the camera steady. Then I get fried trying to keep up with the other bikes by myself.
