Strengths:    Great frame geometry and setup for day tourer or commuter road bike.

Weaknesses:    As originally equipped, the component group was of lesser quality.

Bottom Line:
I got this bike new as a frame plus some parts, in exchange for labor back in 2001. The fork had been damaged in shipment, which I replaced. I built it using mostly high end Shimano components. It has been a wonderfully comfortable road bike and a great successor to my old Centurion. You can't touch a tourer like the R300 for anything close to its price today. It was probably the best "bang for the buck" in Raliegh USA's road lineup of the time.

Strengths:    Low price, value. Comfortable.

Weaknesses:    discontinued. You will need to spend a lot more for comparable bike (Jamis Aurora, Bianchi San Remo).

Bottom Line:
Very comfortable bike that compliments my race bike (Raleigh R800/Ultegra). I purchased this from Ebay as a new bike for a great price. Light touring bicycles are out of favor, but they make excellent commuting bikes. The longer chainstays, bigger 28c tires, and higher stem make commuting a joy. The bike could be set up for full touring.

Strengths:    Low cost roadbike, fits people who are average size, dependable standard components, strong frame, built in USA,

Bottom Line:
I ride in all kinds of weather--rain, snow, below freezing, at night, and hot days. I like the wider tires and compact frame design. I don't race, so I don't need a race quality bike with high end components. This bike is great for commuting.
