Price Paid:  $1500.00 at California

Favorite Ride:
prodigy DX

Summary:
this bicycle is awesome! Been a comfortable ride for many years. However, I now have a busted frame piece and I cannot recieve warrenty parts from Giant. Anyone else have this problem? Or a bike they would like to sell?

Strengths:
Comfortable ride, lightweight. Fits well to body size. Great design, love the wheels.

Weaknesses:
Frame is not as sturdy as should be. This is the second break. First one got fixed, this time, Giant does not appear to be standing behind product. Numberous calls have not netted results desired.

Price Paid:  $1500.00 at Wheel World, Culver

Favorite Ride:
Moderate, consistent pacing / beach bike path

Summary:
The first time I saw it in the shop it looked like an elaborate movie prop out of a sci-fi movie about the future. It was strikingly different than anything else I had yet seen. It was beautiful. The price for this array of quality high-tech components built into this innovative overall design was extremely reasonable. I just had to own one of these head-turning "Sport Utility Bikes" for myself. I had high expectations for it's performance, handling and durability on the bike path and I was not the least bit disappointed. After adjusting the piston shocks to my weight using the included steel mini-pump, it took bumps, crevaces...even CURBS with control enhancing smoothness. It rewards my snap reflexes by maneuvering gingerly around sudden obsticles and instantly braking with it's front-rear disk brakes. Shifting its high range of gears is a breeze with the nicely placed thumb controls. The shifting itself goes very smoothly over the high quality derailer. The built in computer and lighting put the total experience of sailing along on this beauty beyond any other bike I have ever ridden.
All in all, the Prodigy DX, S.U.B. is in my opinion, a model for many bicycles of the future, just as it was with the first Sport Utility Vehicle over a decade ago.

Strengths:
Quick release front-rear wheels for easy transport. Super high-quality components. The gratifying experience of recieving constant attention, curiosity and admiration everywhere I go with it.
Its just plain FUN...pure and simple.

Weaknesses:
Lightweight aluminum frame and wheels not lightweight enough. It take some moderate effort to lift it up. It catches the eyes of a great deal of onlookers...including bike thieves. I never feel secure about leaving it out of my sight in public...even if it's locked down. Not many weaknesses, though.

Test rode a Giant Sedona. Nice bike but not as cool as the Prodigy.

Price Paid:  $1200.00 at HDKBikes

Favorite Ride:
Long w/ some bursts

Summary:
As mentioned owned for less than a month,
but have put some miles on it thru last
couple of weeks. Simply put this bike is
a joy to own, it provides a very smooth
ride and is comfortable . I average between 17-25 miles daily , and some rides
are faster than others and this bike is
a good one to do it on . Again this is
no speed bike but you can scoot it along,
pretty quickly. If you are considering
a bike like this..and use it for what
it is designed for..I highly recommend.
Plus others will compliment you..almost
daily . I don't think giant skimped one
bit on the build and design of this "SUB"
(sport utility bike) as it's called .
You can get a feel for this by simply
looking at it, or best yet riding it.

Strengths:
This bike is "LOADED" , it comes with
everything you could want or need . The components used are of good quality , mostly XT , components..the disc brakes
are very good and will bring you to a stop
when needed. sigmasport computer..built in
the handle bars headlamp , built in rear
functioning tail lamp as well .
alloy custom wheels are very attractive
and give this bike a look like none other.
On the DX model you can adjust your ride
via air , shocks/suspension. As i am still
playing with it to get the right feel ,I feel I
am getting close, not to hard nor to soft.

Weaknesses:
The smallish issues I have..is the wire for the computer should be about 2 inches
longer , to accomodate handle bar adjustments better . And the front disc brake
rubs from time to time and can be annoying ,
I hope to have that addressed at my first check up..my repair helps very little. This
bike is on the heavy side..If you check
the equipment however..you would certainly understand why.
