Price Paid:  $500.00 at Bike Doctor

Favorite Ride:
Daily 20 mile

Bike Setup:
As it came out of the box.

Summary:
My wife bought the bike for me, so the price is only approximate. I am in the "geezer" range at 56 and had not ridden a bike for nearly 40 years. I have ridden my Trek nearly every day for seven months. It is fantastically comfortable, easy to ride and maintain. I highly reccomend it.

Strengths:
Quality, fit and finish and ease of maintenance.

Weaknesses:
None. Well I wish it had disc brakes, but you can't have everything at this price.

Price Paid:  $430.00 at Wamsley's

Favorite Ride:
Weekend

Bike Setup:
As it comes out of the box.

Summary:
As a rapidly ageing "baby boomer" I was looking for something to hold off the ravages of time. I found it. Bikes are as near to zero impact as is possible and still be outside. The 300 is the perfect tool if you're doing bikepath/rail-trail riding.

The Navigator line is classified by Trek as "comfort bikes" and they are. The seating position is remarkably comfortable, yet you can work agressivly if you wish. Within the Navigator line I believe the 300 is the "sweet spot."

This is no *mart special. It is a well engineered machine, almost "watch like" in its operation. I regularly do 40 mile weekend rides over a combination paved/packed sand and crushed limestone trail. I wish for nothing more than this bike.

A large part of satisfaction with a bike is the shop you buy it from. My shop is just what you'd want, selling a great product. A good deal all around!

Strengths:
This bike simply feels like quality. You could spend more for developed trail riding, but you don't need to.

Weaknesses:
You could, I suppose, want better this or that, or both. But look at the price, the purpose, and the quality. There are no significant weaknesses.
