Strengths:    Drivetrain, Frame, wheel set, seat which is very comfortable. Perhaps too comfortable.

Weaknesses:    front fork, seatpost. At 27 pounds a tad heavy.

Bottom Line:
After doing 3 century rides on this bike I come to love it. The Manitou Luxe fork isn’t the greatest and it seems a little heavy but the bike is solid, responsive, and a good value for the money. Over the course of the year I did upgrade the brake levers to Avid and the shifters to sram attack shorties due to personal preference.

Strengths:    Flexible - can use for recrational paved trails, light road riding, or distance rides.

Weaknesses:    Front fork sucks.

Bottom Line:
I purchased both the limited edition 201 SX for me, and the 2002 SX for my wife. The 2001 had a better front fork (Rock Shox Metro) - The Manitou on the 2002 was way too wimpy for my 265lbs.

Is anyone out there riding this bike that can provide some feedback? It is a hybrid, I guess. The component group (Shimano 105) doesn't look too bad for an entry level to road biki   Read More »
