at American Flyers Summary: In 1998 I test rode several bikes, including a carbon Trek(okay), a Merckx (steering too quick), a Tommassini (too expensive), and an old Raleigh with Reynolds 531 tubing (very comfortable but slow). I choose "Barbara" Carrera and have been very happy with her. Her steering is ideal - not too quick and not too slow. She absorbs shock well. Her Campy parts are durable and well designed. With chrome, lugs, and beautiful paint, she is a joy to look at. Only now, ten years and 22k miles later, have I found a bike that rides slightly better, my brother's Specialized Roubaix, but I have no plans to replace Barbara. Weaknesses: It isn't light - but that doesn't bother me.
