Strengths:    Wow, is this frame light! ~3lbs

Really nice steel ride. Matched with a carbon fork and seat post, the ride is almost plush.

Really sweet paint job

Weaknesses:    Weld at seat tube/seat stay junction a little dodgy

Bottom Line:
A few months ago, after blowing up climbing Donner Pass, I decided a triple was in my near future. It didn't seem worthwhile to upgrade my current bike so I figured it was time for a new one. I hade been riding a Colnago Masterlight for over a year . It was a really nice bike but a little heavy. I also never felt completely comfortable on it.

I got fit by Terry at Shaw's in Santa Clara (best $70 I ever spent). Armed with the correct geometry and way more knowledge about frames, I started looking around. I really liked the steel ride but wanted something light to help compensate for my crappy climbing ability. But most importantly the bike had to fit me well.

I found the Coppi Foco on Wrench Science's site. I called them and talked to Tim Medina. He was very helpful. We went over my fit numbers. Naturally, I was worried about buying the bike sight unseen. He assured me that I wouldn't leave their shop with a bike that didn't feel right. He ordered me a 54C-C with a pretty standard Chorus build.

A couple weeks later I drove up to Berkley to pick the bike up. They put it on a trainer and Tim fit me himself. All it took was a small seat adjustment and a stem swap and I was out of there.

The Bike rides like a dream. The handling is a little quicker than the 'nago but it didn't take long to get used to.

Other than a slightly sub-par weld at the seat tube/seatstay juncture the bike is perfect for me.

The bike rides well, looks great and fits me like a glove. The guys I ride with say I'm noticably faster on the new ride.

The bottom line is that you can get an eye-talian Foco frame for less than most small builders charge.
