Strengths: Craftsmanship, handling, and durability.
Top quality bike.. still very competitive for road applications against today's current carbon technologies.Weaknesses: Haven't found any in 6 years of hammering on all types of roads and terrain in US and Mexico.Bottom Line: Frame: Columbus Altec2 frame and Columbus carbon fork. 1050g tube set. Lightest
DeBernardi frame in 2000. Triple butted solution treated 7005. Team Tour Edition.
Spectacular welds and flashy paint.
The angles on the frame are classic Italian with long top tube and slightly relaxed seat tube. A climber's dream. Crit type handling, but still very stable while decending at great speeds. Every ounce of power from the crank goes directly to the wheels and the road. Very stiff frame..
In year 2000, builders hadn't developed the carbon technology as well as it is being done today in 2006.. Most Tour teams were opting for Altec2 tubes instead of carbon because of greater stiffness with minimum weight of Columbus Altec2 tubes.
