at used Favorite Ride: Long and curve laden Bike Setup: Campy components, behind the seat waterbottle cages, Conti Gatorskins on handmade wheels. Summary: Fairly new to riding, I was in search of a comfortable bike, that didn't require one to suffer with a sore butt. Went from aluminum to carbon to the Softride. Wow, I thought the carbon Trek was smooth, nothing compares to the cushy tushie treatment of the Softie. Primarily a long distance rider, I rode the Tour de Tucson as my first "event" and got off the bike feeling tired but not sore. On the downhills I was passing everyone while coasting, yet they were pedaling. The hype about the aerodynamics is true, this thing is flat out fast. I couldn't keep up with the serious riders on the flats or uphill, but I was grinning on the downhills as I passed the hard core racers. Cornering is awesome too, and as an experianced motorcycle rider (25 years)who loved strafing corners on street legal race bikes, I can say the suspension effect of the "beam" improves handling in corners. I've gotten questions from other riders, but no dispairaging remarks, just curiosity. As nice as this bike rides, and with the superior handling in the twisties, I'm surprised more folks are not riding them. Could it be that they look bizarre? I dunno, but these ought to be alot more popular than they are. Strengths: Comfort, handling, aerodynamics, unusual looking, conversation starter. Weaknesses: A bit heavy, unusual looking, one frame mounted bottle cage. Similar Products Used: Trek 1500, Trek 5900
