Strength:

Construction of frame; stem, fork and seatpost are superb; Selle Italia Prolink saddle is comfy.

Weakness:

Shifting has been finicky and requires minor adjustment every so often.

More bang for the buck. Purchased when I decided to get back into cycling after a LONG hiatus, and the technology had left me behind. Smooth welds, insane lightness, and carbon fiber components all at a reasonable price. The 105 components suit the recreational rider well, but racing types will want more. Recently completed my first century, Maryland's Seagull, with this bike, and it did not disappoint-felt like I could do another 100! Giant did its homework. I will be enjoying this bike for a LONG time!

Strength:

Frame and fork are beautiful and have great lines. Components are strong and reliable. Bike is light and fast.

Weakness:

Hutchinson Carbon comp tires wore out in 830 miles. Sidewalls had many cuts and tears.

This bike is absolutely great. I've had it for almost two years and the more I ride it, the more I like it. I ride about 140 miles per week and it hasn't missed a beat yet. Its light, strong and fast. Great ascender and decender.

The wheelset will last you your lifetime, the frame is fantastic, the carbon fork & seatpost are nice additions. I just can't seem to hurt this bike.

Weakness:

Not the fastest wheels out there, but like I say... if they'll take that kind of punishment and not even blink, they'll be your training wheelset for a long time.

Solid, solid, solid. Biked across Canada with it and took it places no road bike should ever be. I've never had spoke problems, rim problems, or even wheels going out of true (well, one minor tightening in 15,000km). All the components have held up fantastically... I'm 165lbs...

Price. Noone compares. Spec. Full 105 should last awhile.Frame: among the lightest alum avail, and for the price? SWEET!Wheels? eh, not great, not bad. Good training set.Seat?(selle italia prolink) stiff, most will want to replace.Overall, the best deal out there, if one of the sizes fits you well.

Weakness:

The shimano 105 durability issue for me is important. Spent almost 3 weeks cuz my rear hub was defective.Hoping it was a fluke.Paint has several chips from gravel, etc.

Got the medium frame, I am 6',240lb. With a longer stem, I am now fitted well.Love the bike, supple ride. Wheels (hutchinson carbon comps)stick well, but not durable.Rear hub had to be replaced, defective.Giant sent a whole new wheel. Giant stands behind their product, and I love how the bike handles and accelerates. The color is sweet, and the carbon accents(fork/seatpost)really dampen the ride.Stiff on climbs out of the saddle, compliant on the bumpy stuff. Likes to descend.Best bike I've ever owned.

Again smooth shifting, acceleration, and cornering characteristics. Beautiful visible yellow paint job. Smooth welded joints.

Weakness:

If there is one thing to nag about I guess I would say the so so wheel set. Its decent but I will probably upgrade to Mavic Ksyrium Elites in the future.

This bike absolutly rocks what else can you say about it? Instant acceleration, smoothing shifting for only 105 components. IMHO I think this bike really shines in the twisties, it feels strong, sure footed even with the stock rubber and doesnt hesitate the faster you take it into corners.

Strength:

Fast, great clomber, instant acceleration.

Weakness:

105 components for those who are purists. If you want to race have to get better wheels.

Great bike. Yesterday returned from 107.84 miles trip and everything worked flowlessly. The bike climbed, spead on the flats and decended like a champ. I had Lemond Zurich before and although great bike I always thought something was missing. Now I found: it's the instant acceleration! At any time anywhere you can just accelerate and take off. Couldn't do it with steel. Comparing the comfort it is one grade less than Lemond but nothing harsh. Carbon fork and seatpost are there to smoothen up your ride. I actually didn't mind even original saddle.

Pricing and component set for this bike make it a wise choice for more committed riders. I'm still amazed at the overall quality of this bike at this price. Especially when you look at what's being offered at similar pricing by competitors.

Weakness:

Nothing so far. After six months I finally took it back to the shop for a routine break in period adjustment.

As the original owner, I had been riding a steel frame Schwinn "Sprint" 10 speed road bike since 1985. After completing the 2001 NE AidsRide (distance and hills)I desperately wanted to upgrade since I was getting more serious with my riding. After a great deal of research into what I wanted in my next road bike while still keeping my eye on the budget, I narrowed the field down to just a few bikes. After test riding the TCR2 -- my search was over. I purchased the Large frame TCR2 and my 6' 185 lb. body with a long reach fits it perfectly. After six months I can say that this bicycle is everything I was looking for. Living on Long Island means you spend your life in road traffic. The bike seems to fit the conditions perfectly. It's responsive, highly visible, and though I'm accustomed to riding a heavy steel frame Schwinn (sluggish but smooth) I'm very comfortable on the TCR2 frame. I'm not certain that a novice rider should be looking at this bike but I do consider it the next step for seasoned riders looking to go to the next level and budget is still part of the formula.

Nice finish, stiff, great climber... love the compact frame fit!!!

Weakness:

Still have yet to see or feel any!

This is a 6-mpnth follow-up review. I've had a great first season as a roadie. I've raced 2 mountain bike races this past summer and had the confidence and stamina all thanks to road training. The TCR2 is a great road frame... it is stiff, very fast on climbs... super lite!!! I have no regrets in buying this superbike. The nice welding finish on the joints shuts-up most of the other roadies who pay thousands for their frame just to watch me pull away from them. The 105's are flawless... no need to upgrade until you wear them out. Hats off to Giant in producing a great frame/bike at a real world price. It leaves lots of money left over for those like me who like to upgrade and customize the bike to their exact liking. I enjoyed this bike so much... I am doing my first duathlon this coming weekend and plan on some triathlons early next year!!!

Strength:

Same frame as more expensive Giant bikes, so completely upgradeable. Awesome color--hard to miss.

Weakness:

Aluminum does occasionally creak when standing (noticeable on any handlebar and stem combinations for any bike though, so it shouldn't be that big of a deal). Selle Italia ProLink saddle was very uncomfortable to ride on, that was replaced with two weeks of buying the bike. I had problems with several spokes breaking on the rear wheel after about 3,000 miles, but then had the complete upgrade. Handbuilt wheels fixed the problems.

Very nice bike to start with. I bought this with the idea of upgrading the components at a later date (which has already happened). I rode several other bikes before deciding on this one. The other main competitor was Cannondale. I found the Giant to be less harsh, as I have always felt that Cannondales were too stiff and not nearly as forgiving as other aluminum frames. The compact geometry gives the bike excellent handling and a very snappy feel when accelerating. I found that I had to try out several different sized seatposts at first (over the first month of owning it) to get the saddle height perfect, as I hadn't been riding for over three years.
