Strengths: The set up, punishment worthy group plus the strong Ksyrium eleites make a sub 20 pound race ready cross bike.
Scandium, take not kiddies: It's not just a fad.
Shaped tubeset give resilience and stiffness in all the right places.Weaknesses: BB spindle is a bit short, so when climbing or sprinting I could flex the frame enough to hit the crank on the chainstay, resolved with a XTR 112.5 mm BB. Also swapped the chainring immediately for Truvative cross rings for a more realistic gear combo.Bottom Line: Forget everything you know about aluminum. Scandium is an amazing material, and in the application succeeds wonderfully. Light, stiff, but surprisingly forgiving and comfortable. Tracks well at high speeds, as well as through the rocky, dry terrain of the front range. Exceptionally well spec'd from the Ultegra group to the ksyrium wheels, a very sweet package. The flat top tube is pretty comfortable when on the shouder, but I've found that I carry it a little more forward. The Mego-pro downtube and swaged stays give this bike an amazing ride that had me the minute I stepped on the pedals.
