at College Park Bicycle Favorite Ride: DC-Senaca loop Bike Setup: 2004 Model comes with Bontrager wheels, with Bont. Cross Jones Tires, Bont. post, bar/stem, and Bontrager Select crank. 53/39 rings stock Shimano 105 Brake lever/shifters, derailleurs, Avid Shorty brakes, either 6 or 4 can't remember Cane Creek Headset Reynolds 853 main tubes. Replaced the rings with Salsa 48/38 and installed an Ultegra 12-27 cassette, and Time ATACs. Summary: Bought this bike so that I could get into cyclocross. It fit the bill. It is also a very nice commuter/light touring bike. Very comfortable without being mushy. What you'd expect for the price/from Lemond. Annoying to me that the bike came with standard road gearing. Finding replacement gears was time consuming and added $100 to the cost of the bike. So I'm an admitted newbie to 'cross, but a very experienced cyclist, 5 years bike messenger, racing over 10 years, and I was very satisfied with this bike. I also gazed wistfully at an Airborne Carpe Diem, but couldn't justify the added $800 or so for first cross bike. Strengths: Very Sturdy frame that handles both predictably and quickly. That is, it is stable for hammering all out, and also rather nimble for turns. Holds a line well at speed, and corrects manageably. Weaknesses: You pay the price for the sturdy steel frame on every sustained climb. But, you know you are not going to destroy this frame in less than 5 or 10 years. Similar Products Used: Bontrager MTB, Marin MTB

at Ebay Favorite Ride: San Diego Creek Bike Setup: Ultegra drivetrain, Profile Design flatbar, Deore XT shifters, Michelin CX Jet tires, Mavic Open Pro Summary: Borrowed it from my friend to test ride a Lemond. Truly amazing. The Reynolds steel frame is silky smooth on the straight flats. Ascend and descends well. Feels very nimble on public roads going through traffic Strengths: Stiff but sliky smooth Reynolds frame. Excellent geometry by Greg Lemond Weaknesses: Sora gruppo? It can definitely use something better. My friend swapped in the Ultegra drivetrain (I know the 2004s are coming with 105s) Similar Products Used: Trek

at Wheel Power, Exeter Favorite Ride: Seacoast NH area Bike Setup: stock except for bar extenders, confort seat and tradtional pedals (for now) Summary: The LeMond Wayzata is a fantastic bike if you are looking for a bike that has the street performance of a road bike but the riding profile of a comfort bike. I added bar extenders to it's big upright bars, and a comfort seat and ended up with a very comfortable, lightweight hybrid that performs like a performance street bike. Strengths: Provides the riding style of a comfort bike with the performance of a touring bike Weaknesses: love it so much I dont want to ride in messy weather which is all we've had this spring in southern NH Similar Products Used: Last bike was a low end hybrid that I beat the hell out off. Came to love the hybrid style of riding but wanted something lighter and better for the road

at LBS the only place t Favorite Ride: any on two wheels Bike Setup: This and that, typical cross setup, whatever I had, XT 105 Tiagra and whatnot. Summary: This bicycle is awesome! Very stable and comfortable on the road but it really shines when the pavement ends. Not the lightest but very strong, reinforced head tube will never ovalize and frame will never break. Highly recommended. Strengths: Spot on geometry, classic steel style. Weaknesses: She is a bit of a loafer (not too terribly light). Similar Products Used: Cannondale X800
