Price Paid:
$428.00
at Cycle Heaven Bike Setup: Standard.
2 speed SA hub
caliper brakes
mudguards
Rack
Dynamo lights. Summary: I bought a Brompton for commuting - that is what is built for.
What you get:
3 speed SA hub
Cheap brakes
mudguards
lights
Rack
The bike is a folder - designed to meet luggage-rack size restrictions. It has 16" wheels, funny little handlebars, and fits many sizes of people. If you buy one, get the cover for the folder bike - saves your clothes from the oil.
Note that the price I have quoted is in pounds sterling. Strengths: Folds in 15 seconds (really). Can carry large, awkward shapes on rack (I used to carry a large briefcase, laptop in a alu case, and a sleeping bag). Good lights (dynamo). Shock absorber is good on city streets. Can be ridden hard. Fits almost any size of person. Open frame & small wheels means women can ride it wearing a skirt. Weaknesses: It is heavy to carry when folded. The parts wear out fast, due to stresses from folding. Expect to replace cables frequently. The wheels are cheap alloy and also wear out - I went through 2. Similar Products Used: Pashley folder.
