I love my Marin, I previously owned a Giant and purchased this for an upgrade. I love the way it handles and the ease in which I can operate on road trails

Strengths:    Disk brakes front and rear, Seat post shock as well as front shocks, gel seat, high torque and good speed, well built, great on loose sand and gravel, excellent for flat to moderate terrain and well built.

Weaknesses:    Very costly for features, similar good quality bike without all features as low as $299. Cannot go full mountain biking - crossing streams, large rocks and logs.

Bottom Line:
Excellent Bike, best in its class. Excellent to climb a 8"-12" curb if necessary and the power in 1st gear to do it. However it can deliver the speed to reach 28mph on the street. Tires fatter than a 10 speed for sandy gravel type trails, yet not wide enough to slow down the bike. This is an excellent bike for hilly or level trail riding where there are some small obstacles and keeping up with the leader is necessary. A very well balanced and built bike with front and rear disc brakes - very nice package.

Similar Products Used:   Experimented with mountain bikes - cheap and expensive. Cheap ones don't work well as hybrid or as mountain bikes. Good ones costly but loose speed and agility on trails. Cheap hybrids behave cheap, not well balanced and not much better than riding a $50-$100 bike.

Bike Setup:   Marin Sausalito, (charcoal). It comes in 2 sizes, 16" and 19" frame and only 26" wheels. Funny as it sounds, the 17.5" works for a tall person well. The 19" is for a large person. I can't imagine who can ride the 20.5" bike frame. This is unlike the measurement on other bikes. I am tall, and my old Schwinn had a 26" tire and a 26" frame specially made.
