Strengths: Steel fame with nicely formed seat and chain stays. Reynolds Ouzo Comp fork - much nicer than the generic carbon forks on many bikes. Shimano R-540 wheelset.Weaknesses: I'm 5'7", and bought the 53cm size. It came with a 175mm crank - which is too long for a person who would buy a 53cm bike, so I had to buy another crank. Also, I've heard heavier people complain about the Shimano R-540 wheels, but at 140lb, they're fine for me. The original Ritchie Carbon Comp tires are fast, but rather delicate.Bottom Line: Forget about the Masi name and the fact that it was made in Tawain and the question of whether or not it is a "real" Masi. This is a great bike. It just feels great. I test rode a '03 Lemond Buenos Aries, and that was nice, but this bike really spoke to me.
Favorite Ride: Purcellville-Waterford-Lovettsville-Hillsboro (VA)
Price Paid:
$1200.00
Purchased At: Pedal 'n Spoke, Grea
Bike Setup: Replaced the original 105 175 mm crank with an otherwise identical 170 mm crank. Replaced the original seat (can't even remember what it was) with a Serfas. IRC Triathalon tires.
