Strengths: Fast
Comfortable
Low price
Attachment points
Strong, non-carbon forks!
Faultless shifting
Strong 8 speed chain
Performance sized rimsWeaknesses: Comes with slow tires. These are general purpose and need replacement with sport-centric tires. Panaracer Pasela Tourguard folding for city and touring, or any high performance tire of your choice
Flat bar needs replacement for longer rides. Use Nashbar Trekking (a Euro bar) or some North Road style (installed upside down and wrapped roadie style).
Bottom Line: This is extraordinarily comfortable.
It has all of the necessary cyclocross attachements for touring, at a far lighter weight class.
High performance rims will accept good road speed tires.
Favorite Ride: highway 166

Similar Products Used: Surly's touring frame, Trek road bikes, Specialized road bikes, Specialized Cyclocross. The Schwinn easily bested the Trek and Surly for performance. The Specialized could overtake it in a sprint, but the Schwinn has it beat on long distance performance.
Bike Setup: Stock except for:
Wald Touring handlebars (A $7 North Road copy in surprisingly light weight steel)--upside down and wrapped. When these are upside down (as designed), a forwards grip appears that give areo advantage, while the swept back grip points are great for comfortable speed while there's no headwind.
Nashbar adjustable ATB stem.
Ruffy Tuffy (Pasela folding tourguard) tires that added speed without reducing comfort.

Strengths: Nothing outstanding.Weaknesses: Lack of adjustability. Should be more efficient.Bottom Line: The bike is too short. When making sharp
turns at slow speeds my toes often rub against the tires. The bike has 28c tires so it's not as fast as a road bike and the flat bar (which doesn't adjust)doesn't really make it comfortable. I can't ride the bike on sidewalks since it doesn't have front suspension. The bike is not exceptionally cheap, nor is it exceptionally flexible nor exceptionally comfortable. The bike works, it doesn't miss shifts, the brakes work, I weigh 220 pounds and I haven't broken anything. But any modern bike would do the same. If you're thinking of buying this style of bike, I would say think again.
