Bottom Line:
Got this bike pretty cheap as it had a couple of scratches. After three years of riding, it still rocks. Frame is very light, and very stiff, but still has a more compliant ride then most other bikes of rode. Did a week long tour on this bike with no problems.

After two years the back wheel cracked, pretty much all Ritchey back wheels crack. Replaced with a dura ace/Open pro wheel set and bingo, instantly better bike. Everything else other then the chain is original equipment.

These plantinum tubing Schwinns are excellent frames.

Strengths:    Price, wheight, components, saddle, wheels.

Weaknesses:    pedals, but you can upgrade the pedals for cheap.

Bottom Line:
Great bike at a great price, even at full retail of $1499. Ultra light frame set, Ultegra cranks, brakes, shifter, levers. Dura-ace rear der., Ritchey wheels, stem, bars, pedals. Selle italia saddle. This bike is light and stiff. Great acceleration. No reason to spend $1500 on a frame set when you get the whole bike for $1499.

Schwinn FB Pro Vs. Fastback Comp. New Rider

Hello. I'm yet another mountain biker looking to get into road riding. I am debating two Schwinn products, both 2005 models, a Fastback Comp @ $800 (internet) vs. a Fastback Pro ($1300) at my LBS. I like buying from an LBS, but the cost of the sales tax ($91) more than offsets the cost of having the ... Read More »
