Strengths: This bike is FAST. I used to use a Trek 2300 with bolt-on aerobars for time trials. Since I switched to the Team TT, I gained 6mph at 85% of my max heart rate. That alone should warrant the purchase price of this bicycle. It is also very stiff and light, so getting out of the saddle and accelerating to top speed is nearly effortless.Weaknesses: It only comes in three sizes, so it may be hard to fit.
I used a local bike fitting expert to get the right fit on mine; however, Trek didn't send the right size fairing on the seatpost, causing the bike not to fit at first (for this amount of money, you'd think they'd send a bike with the dimensions they advertised).
Finally, the price seems a bit too high. I was able to get the bicycle cheaply, but paying the "Lance tax" of about $2000 just seems ridiculous.Bottom Line: Several months ago I decided that I needed a time trial bike. I decided to buy the best time trial bike there is so that I can never blame the equipment for any poor performances I might have. With very few exceptions, I found that bike in the Trek Team Time Trial.
Price Paid:
$2500.00
Similar Products Used: Trek 2300, Lotus.
Bike Setup: As sold except for a HED disc wheel, and a Dura Ace aero chainring.
