Strengths: easily installed, easy to secure bikes on. very adjustable. No way to harm vehicle's paint. Keeps bikes relatively high and far from the vehicle without compromising security.
Lockable. Sensational peace of mind for a very, very long road trip.Weaknesses: None.Bottom Line: purchased for move from NJ to LA. mounts and adjusts easily and held bikes perfectly still for all 2985 miles. My grand cherokee didn't come with cross rails, so this was a better buy for me.
Anyone intimidated by not knowing how to correctly install a carrier for the bikes and doesn't have a hitch or cross rails on a roofrack should look at this one first. It's not the least expensive, but a sensational value nonetheless.
I'd say it's just about perfect.
