Bright, bright, bright! Great flash pattern gets attention. Uses only 2 AAs.

1) Interrupts wireless signals within 1-2 inches. (Many/most other lights may also do this, so I would not say this as something unique to this light or brand.) 2) Clamp could be a bit better designed with a more positive locking mechanism. 3) Water-resistant, but not water-proof.

I road bike and bought the 1-watt Blaze to be seen by drivers and pedestrians on semi-rural and Chicago suburban streets, not to be my main light source. My work schedule means my weekday rides are limited to late afternoon and often go into dusk or nightfall. That time of day there is also more traffic with distracted drivers trying to get home. With that as the context, I'm very pleased with this light. It does the job of attracting attention extremely well. (Drivers sometimes do double-takes at how bright the light really is.) And in a pinch could also be a light source. In flash mode, it's supposed to last about 20 hours. That's fine for me, since I only use it about 30-45 minutes, three or four times a week. (The 1/2-watt Blaze is supposed to last many times that, and the 2-watt Blaze about 14 or so hours in flash mode. But I thought the former was not bright enough, and the latter's brightness overkill and the battery life not enough for my purposes.) Planet Blaze says the light is water-resistant (not waterproof), but I haven't had it out in the rain during the few weeks I've had this light.

There are some cons, but none are show-stoppers for me: 1) It interferes wiith wireless devices within 1-2 inches. I have the light mounted on the handlebars on one side of the stem, and my computer and HRM on the other side, about 4 inches away. This has prevented any interference. 2) The clamp could use a more positive locking mechanism. Taking the cue from another review, I use a small, rubber o-ring to make sure the release lever doesn't slip open on rough pavement. 3) Not water-proof, although is said to be water-resistant.

My overall rating is based on the fact that it is BRIGHT, only takes 2 AAs, and seems well built overall. I bought this on Amazon.com as part of a package with the Planet Bike SuperFlash Stealth for about $60. (The SuperFlash is an amazing light in its own right.)

Works as emergency backup

Very weak light beam. Not even close to re-chargeable lights. Expensive for the performance. $20 should be adequate for the light this kicks out. Not worth the money I think.

Don't get fooled by great reviews. I have the 2w version and have used as a backup on night rides and it barely lights up the road in front at all. In comparison to real rechargeable or dyno lights this is not even in the same league and for $50 I had expected more. Good emergency backup only, cannot even compare to my Nightrider 250 or even 120.

Nightrider Sol 120 and MiNewt 250, Stella 120, Dinotte 150. All clearly superior to Blaze 2W, but also more expensive. Sol not so much really, but that one is old now.

Bright, good price, superflash is intense, you can use it as a headlight, uses AA batteries, lasts forever.

I have the 1 Watt edition and I absolutely love this light! It is super bright, and you can actually use it to guide your way as a headlight on unlit city roads! The superflash is gnarly, but can get a little disorienting on dark streets, so I find myself leaving it on beam unless I am in the city. The mounting is easy, and it has only come loose once when I hit the train tracks at mach speed.
