Product Description

Low price. High tech. The kind of helmet you wear to places far, far from home (or traffic). The GilaTM offers high-performance, competition-ready features at a very reasonable price. Stuff like 23 vents, an in-mold shell and a snap-mounted visor. New for 2001, the Gila is available with the ponytail-compatible, height adjustable Roc Loc 3.

Strengths:    Brain protection, comfortable, proven itself to me.

Weaknesses:    Ventilation. But, I care more about brain damage than head temperature, so I bought a second one to replace the broken one.

Bottom Line:
This helmet saved my life. Same as someone else on here, 35mph down Grabtown Gulch (yes, there was a spotter, and yes it was stupid and illegal), over the handlebars, broken bones, ER, etc. Helmet was totalled. It literally split in half. My head thanks it. I keep it around so when I get old I can scare my kids into wearing theirs.

Strengths:    Good ventalation, nice fit

Weaknesses:    Rear locks a hassle and weak. Setting the helmet down or bumping the rear of it on anything tends to change the adjustment to make it too small. Readjusting to fit was a constant chore. Eventually leading to one of the loc tabs breaking. I find adjusting them and making sure they are adjusted correctly, then super glueing them works though shouldn't be neccessary. I'll buy another anyhow my next purchase. :0)

Bottom Line:
I like the over all performance of the helmet. It fits well and obviously fitting well it will protect my head. It looks sharp too.
