Strengths:    Works perfest when it gets cold...

Weaknesses:    does't work for warmer days

Bottom Line:
I have used this jacket for years. It rules. It is the heavest (cold weather) garmet that Assos makes. Wear it on the coldest days. I even use it off the bike when it gets cold.

Strengths:    Warm as a Professor of Warmth at Warm University, with a big log fire.

Looks good though.

Weaknesses:    Too warm.
The pockets will hold a credit card; anything else makes them sag like an elephants underwear.

Bottom Line:
Gator jacket comes with a fleece lining, which is nice and snug when you step out the front door. Trouble is, after 5 miles it feels like a sauna in there. So you open up the neck...and freeze, then zip it up and cook, then open...

Too warm, way way too warm. It needs to be about freezing point before this jacket feels comfortable.

So I buy the most expensive piece of cycling kit in the world, then cut the lining out; way to go Ol.

New Gator tire with a "nick" - safe to mount?

Bought a couple of new Gator tires on sale in N.Y. Afterwards I found out that one of them has a "nick" as if its been squashed or squeezed during transport. Return is not an option. So I need to decide if I want to mount it. I include some pictures to make it easier to evaluate. Th ... Read More »

Ride Report: Baytown Gator Ride; Saturday, March 2, 2013

This was one of the best-organized charity events I've ever ridden. Supreme kudos to the organizers, volunteers, and law-enforcement personnel! Amazing they can jam a 62-mile route into the Baytown area. To do so, they use urban-industrial-residential roads along with country and park roads, the ... Read More »

Bit of buyer's remorse with Gator Hardshell

Read all about the GP4000S vs 4 Season vs Hardshell, pros and cons. Recently used the GP4000S in 25c and they were nice throughout the spring and summer. But with winter coming in and the handful of puncture flats in one week with the 4kS I went with the Hardshell for our chipseal-heavy roads and ho ... Read More »

commuter tire: Conti Gator Hardshell vs Vittoria Randonneur Pro

If resistance to punctures and road hazards is the #1 priority in a 700C-32mm tire, what are some real world experiences with these 2 tires? Were a "tie breaker" necessary, it would probably be wet traction. Continental http://www.conti-online.com/generator/www/de/en/continental/bicy ... Read More »
