a Commuter
from Date Reviewed: March 27, 2009
Strengths: Warmth, wind blocking, water resistance, comfortable fabric, breathability in temps below 40 F.Weaknesses: Sleeves a little short and won't cinch. Pockets kind of small, with none zippered. Fits loose around the waste. Too warm for fast riding in temps above about 45 F (for me).Bottom Line: I bought two winter cycling jackets in the fall of 2007, the Gavia and a Craft Thermal. The Gavia is a great jacket -- it is very warm, reasonably breathable and water resistant. I use it for commuting, so I bought mine in the Screaming Yellow color. Mine has been very durable with no problems. I have ridden in temperatures down to the upper teens F, and it was still warm with a longsleeve base layer.
Price Paid:
$125.00
Purchased At: Performance
Similar Products Used: I bought a Craft Thermal jacket at the same time. It fit me well and was very breathable, better than the Gavia, but it started falling apart after less than 2 months. Returned it for a full refund.
