Strengths: Styling, fit, function, adaptability, price as compared to other jackets like this one.Weaknesses: None.Bottom Line: I have always wanted what I considered a full winter cycling jacket but was always overwhelmed with the myriad of choices and the prices that came with these kinds of jackets. I finally chose the Pearl Izumi 3X1 jacket. My wife ( also a cyclist) thinks I'm crazy because I jabber on about how this is the best purchase I have ever made. So since she won't hear me anymore I thought I would jabber on about it here. This jacket has many technical features but the basics are an outer soft shell jacket with a inner insulated jacket that fits into the outer jacket, it also comes with a balaclava that I must say kicks ass. The fit is spot on for cycling and works as well for running, skate skiing and I'm sure any strenuous activity. It's warm as hell but not sauna like while dragging your overweight winter ass up the local hills and then not freezing the said body part off on the descent. Oh and did I mention the balaclava is great. I never in a million years thought I would wear this thing because off the possibility of looking like a gapper because, of course it's all about the KIT. Ok my wife is over this so I think you get it.
