If you are looking for the wide toebox Carnac is famous for, these are not your shoes. If you are looking for that shoe that is going to impress everybody at the shop ride, these are not your shoes.

If you want a well made shoe that feels great and and is really cool, then these are the shoes for you. When I say "really cool" I mean it in the temperature sense. Nobody seems to have heard of Carnac. If you want that kind of cool shoe, you probably need to get some Sidi or Mavic shoes. Although, maybe Carnacs are cool in that hipster, ironic way. And after all you are reading this review and I'm not going to be the one to tell you, you are not cool.

Let us assume that you are a cool person and that I am a cool person too. One of our many differences as cool people is that I own a pair of these cool shoes and you are thinking of getting some of these cool shoes. I think I can help you with that. Pretty cool huh?

The fit and finish on these shoes is similar too Sidi. They are quality shoes. They seem to me to be a little better able to be adjusted, strap wise. The part where your ankle goes, has a big dip, kind of like a tri-shoe. You would think this would be a problem with your heel popping out, but it's not. Whether it's the heel cup or some sort of magical spell cast on it by Carnac, the shoes are solid, there is just less of it. Cool huh? That mesh stuff on the upper helps the shoe to be pretty cool. Combine that with the vented bottom and these shoes are really cool. (Cool tip) cut some holes in the inserts corresponding to the vents and they are cooler. You really need to be able to try these shoes on to know if they will work for you. They fit differently from the Carnac shoes I've had before, and different from most other shoes. If you are getting them online, make sure you can return them as these shoes may be too cool for you.

Comfortable and light with a stiff carbon sole. This is a full-feature shoe. Designed for a narrow to normal width size foot. Older Carnacs are cut wider than this model. Buckles are robust and closures are well made. No durability issues to date with more than 1,000 road miles. Original insoles were a bit small for the size I had (42.5) and contacted Carnac USA for a larger replacement. About $15 and 2 weeks. Fit now is just right. If you can get this shoe for sub $200 it's a good deal.

Used Sidi Genius 6, Carnac (several models), Time RXS and DMT Legend. Of these, Sidi fits best with the M7 a close comfortable second.
