The backbone of the Carnac Helium Carbon is its MFC5 White Carbon sole. Identical to the sole used on the M5 Carbon. The MFC5 sole also eliminates the need for cleat adapters. This further saves weight, and it lets you feel closer than ever to your pedals, while giving you absolutely flex-free performance from the soles.
Strengths: Good ratchet system, Carnac recognizes some people have wide feet.
Weaknesses: Not really durable shoe - if used everyday all the time - might last a year!
Bottom Line:
At first, I felt this hard piece of something odd pressuring down on the top of my foot. My buddy said the sox I had on were too thin - so I put on a bit thicker socks and for some reason, either he was right or they started breaking in properly....but now I can wear the thin sox and they feel perfect. I just wish they ratchet was a bit quieter, my competition know I'm prepping for the sprint when I start ratcheting the shoe tighter....you cant have it all - great shoes however.
