It's impossible to speak of cycling shoes without mentioning their pioneer, Sidi. From inventing the first shoes with adjustable cleat positions to the creation of the Velcro strap closure system, Sidi has provided a competitive edge that's dominated every pro race for nearly half a century. The Sidi Laser Euro Edition Shoes, now available for the first time in the U.S., exclusively from Competitive Cyclist, are a tangible reflection of everything Sidi's learned since 1960. Aesthetically stunning, ergonomically shaped, and stiffer than a pile of bricks, the Laser Shoes use every trick in the Sidi book to provide unrivaled efficiency and comfort.Sidi's Laser Shoes are the culmination of over 50 years of ergonomic study, and just as many years worth of professional peloton feedback. The Laser provides an even distribution of fit and efficiency that's been heightened by some borrowing from the upper echelons of Sidi technology. The most notable is the Eleven carbon sole that's been almost directly lifted from the renowned Ergo 2. Using rigid carbon from toe to heel, the Laser's carbon layup has been designed to accommodate torsional stress and impacts. Additionally, the carbon layup is thinner at the toes, guaranteeing efficient power transfer without strangling the foot's biomechanics on long rides. This design promotes circulation, helps to eliminate hot spots, and is forgiving to the tendons. Though, the main draw is still the explosive power efforts that the sole enables without feeling like a block of wood. The sole's efficiency has been further enhanced by the upper's retention systems and material selection. The top of the foot is secured by the Ratcheting Caliper Buckle and two High Security Velcro straps. The ratchet buckle enables a dialed-in, secure fit with its adjustable design that's been mated to the Soft Instep 2 upper. For larger feet, the buckle's height can be adjusted to stretch over the foot. For durability, the Velcro straps have inset rubber teeth that minimize wear and strengthen the holding power of the straps against the upward force of the foot. To ensure that the shoe is guiding your feet on the upward pedal stroke, the Laser includes Sidi's heel cup system. This system acts as an additional reinforcement around the top of the heel cup to eliminate heel lift and thus increases efficiency when you're really torquing on the cranks. Lastly, the uppers are made from Sidi's stunning Lorica Vernice microfiber with a touch of nylon mesh for extra ventilation. The Sidi Laser Euro Edition Shoes are available in sixteen sizes from 40.0 to 48.0, and in the colors Black/black vernice and White/white vernice. The shoes are designed for use with three-hole cleat systems.
Thought some of the more classic bike oriented RBR's may appreciate these. Numbered prints commissioned by the shop where I'm working. About 30 of each print exist.
